LY SON TEMPORARILY SUSPENDS ARRIVAL OF FOREIGNERS
The People's Committee of Quang Ngai has temporarily suspended the arrival of passengers on Ly Son island since March 9, and also encouraged foreigners currently staying on Ly Son island to return to the mainland early. Moreover, residents should not sail to Ly Son island unless it involves an urgent matter. This suspension will remain in place until further notice.
VIETNAM SUSPENDS VISA-FREE TRAVEL FOR 8 EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc suspended the visa exemption for 8 European countries including Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain followed a recommendation by the national steering committee on coronavirus prevention and control, which cited a cabinet meeting on March 9.
CHINA CLOSED 11/16 TEMPORARY HOSPITAL IN WUHAN
As of March 9, China temporarily closed 11/16 makeshift hospitals in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province. According to the National Health Commission of China (NHC), the decision was made after the number of new infections on March 8 hit the lowest level since January.
By the morning of March 10, there were 19 new infections, 17 deaths and 1,297 recovery cases in mainland China.
60 PEOPLE WHO ATTENDED A FUNERAL WERE INFECTED
About 60 people tested positive for nCoV after attending a funeral service inVitoria-Gasteiz (Basque) last month.
Local health authorities confirmed at a press conference on March 7 that 39 of those cases said to be in the neighbouring La Rioja province, and another 25 cases reported to have been confirmed in the Basque country.
106 COUNTRIES AND TERRITORIES RESTRICTING ENTRY FROM SOUTH KOREA
According to the Yonhap as of March 9, two more countries, Grenada and Barbados, have joined the list of countries and territories imposing entry restrictions or tougher quarantine procedures on people from South Korea over coronavirus concerns, putting the tally at 106.
ALL 27 EU MEMBERS ARE INFECTED
On March 9, the Republic of Cyprus reported its first 2 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including a public health professional. Both patients are males. The first case is a 25-year-old man who had returned from northern Italy and the second, the health professional, is a 64-year-old who returned from Britain.
So far, all 27 member countries of the European Union (EU) have reported their Covid-19 cases. Of which, Italy is the most affected country, with 463 deaths and 9,172 infections.
ITALY ORDERS NATIONWIDE LOCKDOWN
By the morning of March 10, Italy's coronavirus death toll has jumped by 97 to 463. Meanwhile, the number of confirmed infections in Italy also increased to 9,172, up from 7,375 (+ 24%).
Therefore, the whole of Italy will be placed under lockdown until next month, PM Giuseppe Conte announced on March 9, in an unprecedented new attempt to beat coronavirus in Europe’s worst-affected country.
On the same day, Brunei and Mongolia also reported their first cases.
