Looking at the lineup of films Paramount Pictures will release in 2017, even in the early months, one immediately senses the rise of a giant. From animation to live-action, from horror to comedy-drama, this giant is aiming for a year that will shake up theaters in 2017.

1. Monster Trucks – Scheduled for release on January 13, 2017

The film revolves around Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school student with an intense passion for speed. Driven by a desire to leave town, Tripp is determined to collect scrap metal from junkyards to build his own "Monster Truck" and inadvertently discovers a bizarre alien creature. They quickly become close friends, escaping trouble from vandals and participating in thrilling and intense races.

 

 

With a budget of $125 million and under the direction of Chris Wedge and four screenwriters including Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, Derek Connolly, and Matthew Robinson, Monster Trucks promises to be a highly anticipated action-adventure animated film at the beginning of the year.

 

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage (Vietnamese title: xXx: Counterattack) – Scheduled for release on January 27, 2016

The film revolves around Xander Cage, an extreme sports athlete who is reluctantly forced to work for the U.S. National Security Agency. To carry out a dangerous mission, Xander Cage assembles a team of "skilled, reckless, and utterly crazy" individuals to assist him.

 

 

Besides the producer and lead actor Vin Diesel, the cast of xXx: Return of Xander Cage also includes big names like Deepika Padukone, Donnie Yen, and Samuel L. Jackson. The film promises to deliver spectacular extreme sports performances, explosive scenes, and breathtaking fight sequences.

 

Rings – Scheduled for release on February 3, 2017

There is a curse in a mysterious videotape: anyone who watches it will die mysteriously within seven days…

Following the first part in 2002, The Ring, and the second part in 2005, The Ring Two, Rings continues the horror story of the cursed rings that claim the lives of countless people on screen. This will be a must-see for horror movie fans, especially those who were terrified by the previous two films. The film is directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez, and produced by Laurie MacDonald and Walter Parkes – who previously worked on The Ring installments.

Ghost In The Shell (Vietnamese title: Vỏ Bọc Ma) – Scheduled for release on March 31, 2017

Ghost in the Shell is a Paramount action blockbuster adapted from the popular Japanese manga of the same name. The film tells the story of a tough-guy beach lifeguard (The Rock) who is forced to recruit a young, free-spirited man (Zac Efron) into his team in an effort to save the beach from destruction by an oil company.

 

 

World War Z 2 – scheduled for release on June 9, 2017

Paramount Pictures has treated its film-loving audience to a feast of flavors, from adventure to fantasy, from romance to comedy, from high-octane action to terrifying horror. And that's not all; this hot summer will undoubtedly excite movie-loving hearts with a series of successful films from Paramount Pictures.

 

 

The first installment, World War Z, directed by Marc Forster, grossed over $540 million worldwide in 2013 and is considered one of the best zombie films ever made. Discussions about a sequel heated up shortly after its release. Details about the sequel's plot, based on Max Brooks' novel, remain under wraps. The fifth installment in the blockbuster robot series by action-packed filmmaker Michael Bay will star Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins.
