Thanks to the rapid changes in technology and tourism, photography has become an attractive profession with many interesting experiences and high income. This is also a profession that attracts a lot of attention from young people. So how to start the journey to become a travel photographer, follow Travellive to follow Ngo Huy Hoa (37 years old, Hanoi) to find out right away:
Ngo Huy Hoa or Hachi8 was a master of architecture and practiced for 5 years before dropping out to pursue a career in tourism photography. Many years later, he finally became a famous travel photographer in the industry.
“With my passion for photography as well as my love of traveling and backpacking, I gradually changed direction... It was a long process” - Ngo Huy Hoa shared.

When he started at nearly 30 years old, Ngo Huy Hoa did not have much experience or knowledge about photography, but only a burning passion for travel. With a small amount of capital saved from working as an architect, he decided to buy equipment and go to forums to learn from the experiences of those who went before him.
Many people struggle for half their lives before realizing what they love, but only a few dare to start over to pursue their passion. Luckily, Ngo Huy Hoa is among the few.
Ngo Huy Hoa shared his photos on long-standing photography forums to ask for advice. At the same time, he collaborated with photojournalists and photo exhibitions. At that time, the frequency of trips was so high that there were months when he was not at home.
With all his heart and soul, he produced his first photo book about his experiences across Vietnam, titled “Vietnam Footsteps – 4 Poles, 1 Peak”. The book was published on the occasion of his 30th birthday, marking two years since he entered the photography industry.

Travel photography requires you to travel to many places, so experiences come naturally. It can be trekking for days in the high mountains, sailing on the sea, paragliding, SUP, driving across the country... experiences that others rarely have.
But travel photography is not all rosy, it also has its fair share of grey areas and difficulties.
This is a job that requires creativity and great inspiration. Photographers must always move to get beautiful pictures, trading their personal life. At that time, traveling is no longer just a rest, it is also the time when work begins.
In addition, you always have to update new equipment, better technology. Flying a drone is both easy and difficult, easy because of freedom of movement but has many hidden unexpected risks.
“I have crashed my drone so many times that I can’t count, even at the end of 2021 I crashed my drone 3 times. The unfavorable factors for filming with a drone include strong winds, loss of signal, and unexpected obstacles.” - Ngo Huy Hoa shared.

To become a travel photographer, the first quality is to love photography and have high standards for work. For Ngo Huy Hoa, the more extreme the weather conditions, the more magnificent and unique the scenes will be.
Young people who want to have beautiful photos must be extremely hard-working and creative to create a successful path. It is as simple as getting up very early, choosing twilight scenes to take pictures. Photographers go to places that few people dare to go by hiking or driving for many days and hours on winding mountain passes. This is the second quality.
Nowadays, many young people or everyone can easily buy and have equipment. But travel photography requires young people to commit more than using technology. Scenes that come to life and convey emotions come from real experiences. It is the commitment that makes the difference.
“Go, experience and fill your mind with positive emotions. It is the experiences that will create a quality life for you, no matter what you do.” - Ngo Huy Hoa shared.
