Whether you’re posting photos to reminisce about your previous trips or simply looking for inspiration for your next trip, Instagram has become a vital tool for the modern digital traveller. Now, easyJet has taken it a step further, with an app that allows travellers to book their trips from the social media app.
easyJet's new app, called “look&book”, will allow Instagram users to search online for a new travel destination and instantly book flights all from the same interface.
If a photo on Instagram sparks your wanderlust, simply take a screenshot and upload it to the Look&book app. With geo-tagging, easyJet will identify the image with a destination and then suggest travel dates and a few available prices. Once you spot a destination that suits you, you can book directly and seamlessly within the app.
“We understand what people feel on Instagram, which is when they see a celebrity or a friend doing something really cool but they don’t know where they are,” said Daniel Young, head of digital experience at easyJet.
“What you’re doing is looking at a picture and trying to figure out where it is, then you Google it, you find the nearest airport, and then you go to the airline website. We saw an opportunity to bridge those gaps and make it a seamless process.”
The only downside to this app is that you can't use it to book flights to anywhere in the world, as easyJet only serves airports in Europe, Iceland and North Africa. However, the new app Look&book promises to go even further and will be the app that leads the travel trend in the future.
