Taiwanese cuisine is a wonderful combination of the Chaozhou and Fujian regions of China, along with the cuisines of neighboring countries such as Japan and Korea.

1.Iron eggs

The name is probably due to the black shape and the unappetizing feeling at first glance. In fact, they are made from quail eggs, which are then processed and soaked in soy sauce for many hours. This is a highly “addictive” dish in Taiwan.

2.Ba wan meatballs

Actually, this is a type of dumpling, made from rice flour, corn flour and sweet potato starch, with pork, vegetables and eggs inside. When eaten, it is served with red sauce. According to the people, this meatball dish was invented during a difficult period, and now it has become a traditional dish during the Lunar New Year of the people.

3.Stinky tofu

This is a must-have dish in every corner of Taiwan. Don’t let the name keep you away from one of the famous menu items here! Stinky tofu is served with a sweet and spicy sauce.

4.Coffin bread

In this dish, a thick slice of bread is added to create a box-shaped lid, toasted crispy and filled with seafood sauce. It is said that a Taiwanese chef, while studying Western cuisine, created this bowl-shaped bread. One day, an archaeologist tasted it and told the chefs: “It looks like the coffin I am excavating.” And that is how the name “coffin” bread came about.

5.Gua Bao

This is a Taiwanese hamburger. It consists of two glutinous rice buns filled with minced pork, pickled cabbage, and crushed peanuts. Thanks to the minced meat, each bite is packed with flavor.
