Instead of participating in a large parade, you can organize small parties with family and friends to ensure safety during the pandemic. Below are 5 unique recipes to show your support for Pride Month through food and drinks.

Pride Month, celebrated annually in June, aims to honor the diversity of human gender identities. Traditionally, Pride Month around the world has been associated with vibrant and colorful parades; however, this year, due to the pandemic, the event has been postponed, replaced by smaller-scale celebrations. This is also an opportunity for people to share unique ideas to celebrate Pride Month, from colorful outfits to rainbow-themed food and drinks.

Proud Pancakes

This colorful cake, made from dozens of layers of pancakes, will be the centerpiece of your Pride party.

Ingredient

Cake portion:

2 cups all-purpose flour

¼ cup sugar

¾ teaspoon salt

3 cups of whole milk

6 eggs

8 teaspoons (1 stick) unsalted butter

Creamy part:

2 cups of whole milk

½ cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 egg yolks

6 teaspoons of cornstarch

3 teaspoons unsalted butter

1 pinch of salt

1 cup of fresh cream

Food coloring

With the cake

- Mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Beat the eggs with the milk in a pouring cup, then slowly pour it into the flour mixture and mix well. Cover the bowl and refrigerate overnight (8 hours).

- After the dough has rested for the required time, take it out and mix it with the melted butter (reserve some butter for frying the pancakes).

- Place a pan on the stove, wait a while for it to heat up, then spread butter on the pan. Pour a ladleful of batter into the pan and spread it to fill the pan completely. Fry the pancake for about 2 minutes, then use a spatula to flip it over so that both sides cook evenly. Repeat until all the batter is used up.

With the cream

- In a small saucepan, combine milk, sugar, egg yolks, cornstarch, salt, and butter. Place over low heat and simmer for about 7 minutes, stirring constantly. Once cooked, pour the mixture into a large bowl and refrigerate until cool.

Whip the fresh cream until fluffy, then mix it with the cooled mixture. Divide into small portions and mix each portion with food coloring.

- Arrange the cakes on a plate, spread a layer of cream on top of each finished cake layer, and then insert a toothpick for decoration.

- Grate the cheese into small pieces and divide it into several portions. Mix the cheese with food coloring and arrange it into strips inside the sandwich.

- Place a pan on the stove, spread butter on the surface, and when the pan is hot, place the bread on it and toast for 3 minutes on each side. Once finished, cut the bread crosswise and stretch it to reveal the rainbow of cheese.

- Once the juice has frozen, remove it from the tray and arrange it in a glass, then pour in the champagne to finish.

3 cups all-purpose flour

1.5 cups of sugar

1.5 cups butter (3 sticks)

1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract

1 box of vanilla-flavored whipped cream

¼ cup rainbow sprinkles

- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, butter, and vanilla using an electric mixer. Divide the mixture into smaller portions and add food coloring. Roll each portion into a long strip, then join the strips together to form a large roll.

- Cut the dough strip in half, then wrap it with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 190°C.

- Remove the dough from the refrigerator, cut it into 0.5 cm slices, and place them on a baking tray. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are slightly browned. Remove from the oven and let cool.

- Decorate by spreading a layer of whipped cream on one cake and placing a second cake layer on top to create a double cake shape, then roll it in rainbow sprinkles.
