Sharing the overview of the Tourism - Hospitality industry and the post-pandemic outlook, experts said that the speed of vaccination deployment nationwide has brought many positive signals to the recovery process of the resort industry, however, to return to the level of operation as before the pandemic (2019), it may take until the end of 2023 or 2024, when the world achieves community immunity and international tourism activities are restored. More than 80% of the audience participating in the survey agreed with the above timelines and nearly 76% of the audience said that only a few localities can open to international tourists in the first quarter of 2022.
When surveyed about tourist destinations after the period of social distancing and loosening of quarantine regulations, more than 50% of the audience chose Phu Quoc alongside other destinations such as Da Nang or Vung Tau - Ho Tram. However, about 14% of visitors are still concerned about the Covid-19 epidemic and will probably travel again when they feel safer in the near future.

2 new elements: Health & Experience
Commenting on the role of technology in hotel operations, Mr. Nguyen Hoang - General Director of VinHMS shared, "The pandemic has contributed to accelerating the development process and creating opportunities for new technologies to reach the market, such as AI area recognition technology to avoid crowded gatherings at the same time in one location, robot technology in room services (cleaning, laundry, and in-room dining), applications on hygiene and safety standards, as well as many other new technologies."
Discussing design trends in the resort industry, experts have noticed the formation of new trends, tourists tend to focus more on "seeking experiences". To attract this group of customers, investors need to adapt to changes in consumer behavior and preferences from the desire to own material things to owning experiences. Hotels are now not simply a place to stay, but tourists will want to have more new experiences and have the opportunity to learn and explore local culture, expand new knowledge, and feel the unique features of tourist destinations.

Experts also believe that the pandemic has made people more aware of physical and mental health factors. More than 72% of HoSkar Night's survey participants believe that the Vietnamese resort industry needs more resort projects that focus on health factors (Wellness resorts). In addition to aesthetic and functional factors, resort designs need to convey ideas through architecture and landscape. Designs need to be in harmony with external conditions, environmental characteristics, natural landscapes as well as consistency in the choice of materials and interior textures... to bring harmony to the overall project.
