The chef who set the record for the most expensive burger on the planet is Robbert Jan de Veen - owner of De Daltons restaurant in the Netherlands. The idea of making this record came to Robert while surfing the internet. He accidentally saw information about the record for the most expensive burger in the world at $ 5,000, weighing 352kg, held by a restaurant in Oregon (USA) in 2011. He decided to make a burger more expensive than that, and only one person could eat the whole burger.
Jan de Veen thought: “Well, that’s a great record, but it’s a waste to make a 350 kg burger. If you can set a record, you should make one that can feed just one person. That would be the world’s most expensive burger.”

Sharing with The National, the owner of De Daltons restaurant said: "We were forced to close and there were no culinary competitions during the pandemic. Although the restaurant's food was still delivered to customers' homes, I was still tired and felt very bad about this stagnant situation. Therefore, I decided to make the world's most expensive burger and donate all the proceeds to charity."
The proceeds from the sale of the cake will be donated to a local charity.
However, making the most expensive cake on the planet is not easy, from the recipe to the execution, there are many difficulties. After many experiments, Robert made a cake worth 5,000 Euros.

The cake is a combination of premium ingredients, including: Dom Perignon champagne-glazed bread wrapped in gold leaf, Japanese Wagyu beef, Beluga caviar, Joselito Bellota Iberico ham, king crab meat, Cheddar cheese, Wyke Farm truffles. All the ingredients are marinated in a barbecue sauce made with Kopi Luwak coffee and ultra-rare Macallan Single Malt, drizzled with smoked saffron mayonnaise. Finally, the cake is soaked in whisky-infused smoke for added flavor.

“The ingredients complement each other very well and give the burger a rich flavour. Although it is a great value, it is best to eat it with your hands as that is the correct way to eat a burger. The bun is covered in gold leaf, so your fingers will be covered in gold.”
News of the record-breaking cake spread throughout the Netherlands before it was even completed. Robert Jan de Veen, the director of a company that makes butter and sauces, approached Geor Schuurman to buy the first cake. The two then decided that the honor of eating the first Golden Boy cake would go to the right person.
The President of the Royal Dutch Food and Beverage Association was chosen to taste the world's first Golden Boy burger.
Robèr Willemse, President of the Royal Dutch Food and Beverage Association, was chosen to taste the world’s first Golden Boy burger. According to Jan de Veen, Mr. Willemse is deserving because he “has done an outstanding job and has always stood up for the interests of all food and beverage companies in the Netherlands.”
The owner of the Golden Boy cake received the Guinness certificate for the most expensive cake in the world.
The first Golden Boy burger was sold on June 28, but Robbert Jan de Veen plans to sell more at his restaurant in the Dutch town of Voorthuizen. However, having money doesn't guarantee you'll be able to enjoy this burger. If you really want to spend 5,000 euros on a burger, you'll need to order it at least two weeks in advance with a deposit of 635 euros (over 17 million VND).
