The chef who set the record for the most expensive burger on the planet is Robbert Jan de Veen, owner of the De Daltons restaurant in the Netherlands. The idea for this record came to Robert while browsing the internet. He stumbled upon information about the world's most expensive burger, priced at $5,000 and weighing 352 kg, held by a restaurant in Oregon (USA) in 2011. He decided to create an even more expensive burger, one that only one person could eat.
Jan de Veen thought, "Wow, that's a great record, but it's a waste that they made a 350kg burger. If you're going to set a record, you should make one that's big enough for just one person. That would truly be the world's most expensive burger."

Speaking to The National, the owner of De Daltons restaurant said: "We were forced to close and there were no culinary competitions taking place during the pandemic. Although the restaurant's food was still delivered to customers' homes, I felt exhausted and terrible about this stagnant situation. So, I decided to create the world's most expensive burger and donate all the proceeds to charity."
The proceeds from the sale of the cake will be donated to a local charity.
However, making the most expensive cake on the planet is no easy task; from formulating the recipe to the actual making process, many difficulties were encountered. After many trials, Robert finally created a cake worth 5,000 Euros.

The pie is a combination of premium ingredients, including: Dom Perignon champagne-glazed bread wrapped in gold leaf, Japanese Wagyu beef, Beluga caviar, Joselito Bellota Iberico cured pork, king crab meat, Cheddar cheese, and Wyke Farm truffles. All ingredients are marinated in a barbecue sauce made with Kopi Luwak coffee and ultra-rare Macallan Single Malt whisky, topped with smoked saffron mayonnaise. Finally, the pie is immersed in whisky smoke for added flavor.
The bread is infused with whiskey smoke to enhance its flavor.
“The ingredients complement each other very well and create a rich flavor for the burger. Although this burger is very valuable, you should still eat it with your hands because that's the proper way to eat a burger. Since the bun is covered in gold leaf, your fingers will be stained with gold after you finish eating.”
News of the record-breaking cake spread throughout the Netherlands before it was even finished. Geor Schuurman, the director of a company specializing in butter and sauces, approached Robert Jan de Veen to buy the first cake. The two then decided that the honor of eating the first Golden Boy cake would go to the most deserving person.
The president of the Royal Dutch Food and Beverage Association was chosen to be the first person in the world to taste the Golden Boy burger.
Robèr Willemse, President of the Royal Dutch Food and Beverage Association, was chosen to be the first person in the world to taste the Golden Boy burger. According to Jan de Veen, Mr. Willemse deserved the award because he “has done an outstanding job, always standing up for the interests of all food and beverage businesses in the Netherlands.”

The first Golden Boy burger went on sale on June 28th, but Robbert Jan de Veen plans to sell more at his restaurant in the town of Voorthuizen, Netherlands. However, having money doesn't guarantee you can enjoy this burger. If you're really planning to spend 5,000 Euros on one, you'll need to order at least two weeks in advance with a deposit of 635 Euros (over 17 million VND).
