Affirming its leading position for over 70 years of experience, IHG is one of the most rigorous hotel managers and operators in the resort industry, a brand whose professionalism and standards are always taken as the benchmark.

Recently, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) officially announced the completion of the purchase of 51% of Regent Hotels & Resorts. After this transaction, Regent Hotels and Resorts will become the most premium brand in the IHG hotel brand system, which currently includes InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton® Hotels & Restaurants, Hotel Indigo®, EVEN® Hotels, HUALUXE® Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza® Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®, Holiday Inn Club Vacations®, Holiday Inn Resort®, avid™ hotels, Staybridge Suites® and Candlewood Suites®. Accordingly, IHG wishes to focus on expansion, quickly increasing the number of Regent hotels from 6 (2,000 hotel rooms) to 40 (10,000 hotel rooms) in the future.

It is undeniable that this is a historic deal that has the power to change the landscape of the luxury resort race. It gives IHG a powerful competitive weapon in the luxury hotel segment, from which the group can confidently take the upper hand, confronting other famous brands such as The Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis of Marriott International, Hilton's Waldorf Astoria, Park Hyatt and Four Seasons. This is also a strategic move by IHG to increase its footprint in the luxury segment, which is valued at up to 60 billion USD worldwide.
Meanwhile, Regent was founded in 1970 by the legend in the hotel industry, Robert H Burns - Founder, CEO and Chairman of Regent International Hotels from 1970 to 1992. There is a saying by Robert H Burns that is still considered the philosophy and foundation of this brand since its inception: "The first thing that makes our reputation is luxury and the only thing that Regent hotels around the world have in common is uniqueness." This philosophy contains the harmony between opposites: simple but elegant, modern but timeless, global but still imbued with local quintessence... Throughout its nearly 50-year history, Regent has exploited local elements along with its own unique standards for each hotel, not following the beaten path of standards that are inherently popular in the hotel industry, thereby making each Regent hotel a sophisticated masterpiece.
It is no exaggeration to say that Regent is a name that guarantees unique experiences. It is no coincidence that many powerful names such as the King of Pop Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Whitney Houston, Elton John, Tom Cruise, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Beyonce... have chosen Regent Hotels & Resorts for their vacations.
“Regent is a fantastic addition to the IHG brand portfolio,” said Keith Barr, CEO of IHG. “We see a real opportunity to unlock the huge potential of Regent and accelerate its growth globally.

Mr. Steven Pan, Chairman of Formosa International Hotels Corporation, said, “IHG and our Group share the same brand vision and IHG has the ability to make our ambitions a reality. IHG has a deep understanding of how to maintain and protect the core values that make Regent a unique and special brand, while also ensuring that Regent can grow and develop globally.

In Vietnam, in 2017, Regent reached an agreement to become the operator of the luxury resort Regent Residences Phu Quoc invested by the prestigious real estate developer - BIM Group. Regent Residences Phu Quoc has been positioned to become one of the first 6-star hotel complexes on the leading tourist island in Vietnam today. With this acquisition, Regent Residences Phu Quoc will become a classic product, the first child named Regent under the management of IHG. This is also the third project to continue the strategic cooperation relationship between BIM Group and IHG. Previously, two projects invested and developed by BIM Group and managed and operated by IHG were Crowne Plaza Vientiane (which came into operation in April 2017) and InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort (which is entering the final stages of completion and preparing to open). According to observers, this is a powerful lever that makes BIM Group's project a "unique" product on the market today. From here, IHG once again affirms its position, continuing to write the pinnacle values of the super-luxury resort world.
Located in the heart of Bai Truong, Regent Residences Phu Quoc is the third component of the Phu Quoc Marina tourist complex, located right next to the InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort. The development of the project demonstrates the near future of a high-class tourist complex, where leading resort brands converge, possessing luxurious resort spaces, along with relaxation, entertainment and exquisite culinary services.
Regent Residences Phu Quoc is built on a total area of 15 hectares with only 76 villas and 42 sky villas, 120 hotel rooms and many luxury amenities such as rooftop bar, sky bar, gym, Michelin Star restaurant, beach club, spa... Designed in Vietnamese architectural colors with a large water surface area, creating a feeling of relaxation, the project's villas are not only diverse in type but also bring a separate, spacious resort space, the target of wealthy investors.
