Things not to be missed when coming to Tokyo

Not only is Japan the host country of the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, it also offers many attractive programs, events and activities for tourists. In which, Tokyo city will be the destination for 15 million tourists.

At the TOKYO Tourism Seminar 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Akito Tadokoro, representative of the Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau (Tourist Promotion Dept.), shared that Tokyo uses the logo「&TOKYO」as its main concept, with the desire to connect traditional and modern elements, creating a city with lots of joy, interesting things and new features for tourists. The symbol「&」 represented in the logo「&TOKYO」has the meaning of connecting the themes of Tokyo together. Tokyo is a city that brings joy, newness, reunions and contains countless values. Here are some things not to be missed when visiting this city.

Tokyo has expanded its free Wi-Fi hotspots across the city. Residents and tourists will be able to access the Internet and learn about Tokyo and Japan at any time. Information signs will be available in multiple languages, allowing international visitors to easily enjoy the capital's attractions.

1. New projectsTOKYO

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is launching a project to build a new cruise ship terminal in Odaiba, a popular tourist destination, to accommodate large cruise ships. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2019.

"Shinjuku Bus Terminal" - the largest bus terminal in Japan opened in April 2016, as the South Gate of Shinjuku Station, with a maximum daily operating frequency of 1,650 trips.

Two new hotels opened in July 2016: Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho and Hoshinoya Tokyo. Hoshinoya Tokyo has a "Ryokan" style and offers natural hot spring baths, offering a unique and different experience for visitors in the heart of the city.

2. CuisineTOKYO

Tokyo attracts food lovers with many Japanese dishes such as: sake, grilled cod roe, sushi, tempura, Soba & Udon eaten hot with broth or cold with soy sauce, Okonomiyaki... Perhaps you do not know, the capital Tokyo, Japan has a total of 226 Michelin stars awarded. Michelin is the Oscar of the culinary world, far surpassing Paris.

If you are a fan of Japanese cuisine, you cannot miss Fukagawa-meshi when coming to Tokyo, this is a famous dish in Tokyo's commercial areas, made from clam meat, leeks, miso soup. One of the dishes that is very popular with locals is Okonomiya, which was originally a dish for children, later became a Tokyo specialty including noodles, dried squid, sweetcorn and stir-fried cabbage in a cast iron dish. For those who love sushi, Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo is where you can enjoy the freshest sushi.

3. Shopping and entertainmentTOKYO

Not only does Tokyo have large shopping malls with a wide variety of products, such as Tokyo Plaza Ginza, the busiest place in the city, but it also has second-hand stores like “Komehyo” and Daiso, where you can buy good quality products at discounted prices.

When it comes to famous amusement parks in Tokyo, you will definitely think of Tokyo Disney. Opened in 1983, Tokyo Disneyland in Japan is the first amusement park that Walt Disney built outside of the United States. Every year, it attracts more than millions of visitors. One of the most popular areas for children is Fantasyland. Here, there is the Cinderella Castle located prominently in the center of Tokyo Disneyland in Japan, where you and your children can chat and play with Peter Pan, Snow White, Pooh Bear, etc. In addition, Tokyo also has Epson Aqua Park Shinagawa, Snoopy Museum Tokyo, etc.

4. Spring, Summer, Fall, WinterTOKYO

Japan is famous for its cherry blossoms in the spring and red leaves in the fall. Coming to Tokyo in the summer, around May and June, you will be welcomed by clusters of purple wisteria (Fuji). Visitors can also enjoy the beautiful Shibazakura flowers in Chichibu, a suburb of Tokyo until the end of May. In Tokyo, there are many special festivals such as Kanda Matsuri of Kanda Myojin Shrine - one of the three biggest festivals in Japan; Flower viewing (Hanami) in Ueno Park; Fireworks on the Sumidagawa River...

During winter, around November and December, snowfall in places near Tokyo also brings its own unique charm. During this time, Tokyo's cityscape is decorated with beautiful decorative lights.
