Given the complex developments of Typhoon Kalmaegi (Typhoon No. 13), the tourism industry in Khanh Hoa province has urgently implemented the highest level of storm prevention measures, including temporarily suspending all visits to historical sites and sea and island tours, to ensure the absolute safety of people and property for tourists.

Recently, Khanh Hoa province – one of the leading coastal tourism centers in the country – has simultaneously implemented decisive measures to respond to the threat of Typhoon Kalmaegi (Typhoon No. 13) making landfall. This decision took effect from the morning of November 6th and will remain in place until the storm completely subsides, ensuring no risks to tourists and protecting heritage sites from harsh weather conditions. The timely closure has been communicated to all travel companies and tourists for coordinated implementation.

Alongside the closure of onshore attractions, ensuring safety at sea has become a top priority. The Nha Trang Maritime Port Authority, under the Vietnam Maritime Administration, has stopped issuing departure permits for all tourist boats since the afternoon of November 5th.

The head of the Nha Trang Tourist Wharf Management Department stated that the unit had proactively implemented response measures under the close direction of higher authorities. More than 300 tourist vessels operating at inland waterways were urgently instructed by the Nha Trang Bay Management Board to move to safe mooring locations. All departure procedures were temporarily suspended, and it was required that no one remain at sea before 12:00 PM on November 6th.

Floating rafts and tourism businesses in Nha Trang Bay also received urgent notices from local authorities to quickly return to shore to take shelter from the storm, eliminating any potential risks from high waves and strong winds. Not only historical sites and boats, but hotels and accommodation establishments throughout the province have also mobilized maximum manpower to implement comprehensive storm prevention plans.

According to the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, since November 4th, the Department has issued an urgent document requiring tourism businesses to proactively respond. Accommodation establishments along the coast, on islands and peninsulas are required to inspect and reinforce infrastructure, secure roofs and windows, and ensure absolute safety for tourists. At the same time, these establishments must review and compile a list of guests currently staying to manage their operations, and prepare rescue forces, equipment, and essential goods and supplies to respond during the storm's landfall.

For beachfront hotels, specific plans have been in place to move guests from sea-facing rooms or lower-floor rooms to safer areas if necessary.

Most tourists are proactively updated by their accommodations on the storm situation, tour suspensions, and the closure of attractions, enabling them to understand the situation and cooperate effectively in storm prevention.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also requested businesses to provide 24/7 reporting before, during, and after the storm, ensuring uninterrupted communication channels so that provincial leaders and the Department can monitor, direct, and support tourists promptly in any unusual situations.
