Located in the northern Swedish town of Harads with a small population of just 600, Treehotel offers guests a different experience of northern sunlight in winter and midnight sun in summer.

Launched in 2010, this tree hotel has attracted more than 20,000 visitors from all over the world every year. Treehotel consists of 6 separate rooms with different designs at heights from 2 to 12m on towering pine trees. Designed by leading Scandinavian architects, each tree room here has its own story and has unique features from shape, furniture to lighting and interior...

The first room to mention is Mirrorcube, 16m2 wide, painted with reflective material to completely reflect the surrounding environment. Mirrorcube is covered with 4 mirror sides and if there is no bridge leading to the room, visitors will hardly recognize this room among the vast pine forest.

The room has a spectacular view from the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the poetic Lule River. It is because of this unique design that the room is the dream of many visitors to Treehotel. The house is built on tree trunks and is large with the front porch of the house being a giant net woven from fiberglass. Guests can lie on this “giant hammock” to watch the Northern Lights in the middle of the Nordic forest.

In addition, the room shaped like a bird's nest completely "camouflaged" by tree branches or the UFO-shaped room floating in the air like a spaceship are also attractive options here.

The owners of this hotel are husband and wife Kent Lindwall and Britta Jonsson Lindvall. Mr. Kent said: "We came up with the idea because we wanted to build hotels that are environmentally friendly. People can stay in the treetops and still be safe. We want to connect the hotel with nature by integrating it into the surrounding environment without harming them. It is important for people to be able to come and relax in the forest."

During a trip to Russia, Mr. Kent shared his idea of building a hotel with three famous Swedish architects, Beces Harstrom, Thomas Sandell and Marten Cyren. Fascinated by the sustainable meaning of this environment, the architects agreed to cooperate with him to design Treehotel. Afterwards, the hotel rooms were scattered in the pine forest and had strange names but associated with the original inspiration such as: Bird's Nest room, Blue Bird room, Dragonfly room, UFO room, Cabin room and Mirrorcube room.

The houses are suspended from tree trunks by sturdy connections, but the trees still survive and thrive. The hotel rooms have double beds, chairs, ladders or ropes for access, and solar heating systems built into the floors. Guests at the Treehotel share a luxurious above-ground bathroom and sauna on a private plot, as installing a water system in each tree house would destroy the forest. The price per day for this tree hotel is around £390, equivalent to about 12 million VND.
