The centerpiece of the floating hotel is a circular structure located on Sweden's Lule River, accessible only by a wooden walkway designed to resemble logs floating on the river.
Arctic Bath, located approximately 75 minutes from Luleå Airport, is open for business and offers 5-star dining in its restaurant.
In the middle of this floating building is a giant ice bath, offering a rather spectacular spa experience that will pique the curiosity of brave guests.
The rest of the hotel includes several sauna rooms offering a variety of sauna experiences, an important part of Scandinavian culture.
The hotel's 12 rooms are scattered around the river and on the water's edge. The Scandi-chic cabins open up to beautiful views of the sky with minimalist and cozy furnishings.

The unusual design of the Arctic Bath floating hotel was first introduced to the public in early 2018, with its striking architectural forms and water theme capturing the imagination of travelers worldwide. The design was inspired by the Swedish tradition of logging and transporting timber by river.
Managing Director Peter Engström says that taking the hotel from concept to reality wasn’t always easy. In fact, if he had known the technical challenges that awaited him, he might have stopped construction and gone with a more viable concept.

The hotel was designed by architects Beces Harström and Johan Kauppit, with the intention of evoking a continuous dialogue between nature and man-made structures.
The cabins are built above ground to avoid environmental impact as sustainability is a business philosophy that the hotel always pursues.
The decision to locate some of the rooms on land came late. While building on land is easier than on water, Engstrom said the team faced challenges, such as ensuring the cabins were at a height that wouldn’t interfere with water and power lines.

Wellness is at the forefront of Arctic Bath, where guests can indulge in carefully selected, locally sourced foods, and relax in a cold bath to relieve muscle aches and life stress.

Other activities offered by the river hotel include yoga, mindfulness and meditation. There are also opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors with programs such as bear watching, horse riding and wildlife photography courses. Arctic Bath also aims to bridge the gap between tourists and the indigenous people living in the village of Harads. Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about Sámi culture by visiting the homes of local people.
During the winter months, you can admire the colorful aurora borealis in the sky above the floating hotel.
In particular, the hotel is designed to give guests the perfect position to watch the starry sky and the famous aurora borealis phenomenon. However, it is not easy for you to become the lucky one to have the opportunity to use the service here, because the hotel requires reservations at least 6 months in advance.
