With the aim of helping women escape "the stresses of everyday life", a newly opened hotel in the town of Porto Cristo (Majorca, Spain) called Som Dona Hotel has a rule of not accepting male guests.

All guests coming to this special hotel must meet two criteria: be female and over 14 years old.

The resort has 39 rooms in total, a swimming pool, a large balcony, a restaurant, a health care center with massage and beauty services.

This unique hotel, run by Som Hotel, is the first female-only hotel in Spain. Room rates start at €75 a night.

Som Hotel said that all rooms in the hotel are decorated and designed according to the criteria of "bright and airy", giving a feeling of "modern and comfortable with 4-star standard interior". Some rooms are equipped with anti-fog mirrors in the bathroom, dressing tables, hair dryers and even hair stylers.

Som Dona's website states: "With a strong design, inspired by the feminine lines of women, this modern and unique hotel in Porto Cristo guarantees you an absolutely relaxing holiday by the sea surrounded by natural beauty."

"At Som Dona you can enjoy healthy cuisine made from local produce; a spa, a swimming pool, free wifi, comfortable rooms, a bar area and a unique atmosphere designed just for women."

The hotel also offers boat trips around the island so guests can freely explore the culture here.

However, female guests should note that the hotel is not entirely male-free. Som Dona still has male staff working in the hotel to ensure compliance with Spain’s gender neutral hiring regulations.

Joan Enric Capellá, President of Som Hotel, said that Som Dona is an innovative project that will help Majorca become a trendsetting name in the tourism industry. He added that the idea of a female-only hotel stems from the current trend of businesses focusing on female clients.
