According to many reputable travel companies, the trend of people booking tours early this year can be explained by a very favorable objective factor: the extended holiday period commemorating the Liberation Day of Southern Vietnam (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) this year lasts a full five days. With such ample time, choosing longer travel itineraries, especially overseas tours, becomes more attractive and suitable than ever for many families and groups of friends.
The clearest evidence of this is that from the end of March, many overseas tours were quickly filled, even sold out, demonstrating the proactiveness and determination of tourists in making the most of this holiday. Many travel companies also recorded a significant increase in the number of customers registering for international tours, estimated at around 20% compared to the same period last year, an impressive figure showing the market's special interest in exploratory journeys.
Tourists are spending hundreds of millions of Vietnamese dong on overseas summer tours.
The appeal of international tours during this year's holiday season can be explained by three main reasons. First and foremost is the longer holiday period. With five consecutive days off, travelers tend to seek new experiences, different cultures, and overseas trips often better meet this need than shorter domestic tours. Second, a surprising but equally important factor is the price.
This year, several international destinations, particularly those in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia, offered relatively affordable tour prices during the holiday season, with some even having prices comparable to domestic tours. This made it easier for many Vietnamese tourists to realize their dream of exploring the world. Finally, the role of travel companies cannot be overlooked. To stimulate tourism and show appreciation to customers, many companies implemented attractive incentive policies for tourists who booked tours early, in groups, or through referrals from friends and family, further encouraging advance bookings.
Asian tours attract many Vietnamese tourists due to reasonable distances and increasingly easier visa procedures.
Notably, instead of focusing solely on tours to China like last summer, Vietnamese tourists' choices of international destinations this holiday season have become much more diverse. Tours to Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan are experiencing strong growth thanks to convenient flight routes, increasingly flexible visa policies, and a wealth of cultural, culinary, and tourism experiences. These countries are not only renowned for their stunning landscapes but also offer unique experiences that cater to the diverse preferences of Vietnamese travelers.
With extended holidays, tourists tend to choose overseas travel itineraries.
Meanwhile, the domestic tourism market is equally vibrant. The five-day holiday is not only an opportunity to explore new lands but also a gateway to a promising summer travel season, especially for beach and island tours. Stunning coastal destinations like Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Quy Nhon are attracting a large number of tourists thanks to their pristine and captivating natural landscapes, high-end resort services, and a wealth of recreational activities.
In addition, tourists with a passion for majestic nature and unique local culture are paying special attention to tours exploring the mountainous regions of Northwest and Northeast Vietnam, where breathtaking mountain landscapes, magnificent terraced rice fields, and rich cultural experiences of ethnic minorities converge. In the northern region, familiar yet highly attractive destinations such as Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh), Cat Ba (Hai Phong), Sa Pa, and Ha Giang continue to be top choices for tourists during this holiday.
