Bhutan is a country located in South Asia, between India and China, and has long been known as the happiest country in the world. The photos below are taken from a photo series called “Bhutan by my film” by Phong Nguyen. The quality of the photos, developed from a roll of film taken with an old mechanical camera, somehow perfectly matches the scenery of this country.

“If anyone has ever dreamed of a faraway land, where there are vast grasslands under long mountain ranges covered with white snow all year round, a peaceful place among all species, where grass, trees and flowers still play happily in the wind every day, where smiles always bloom on lips, then that is Bhutan - the land of the dragon and thunder. Bhutan - a land of faith, where people's beliefs are more than material pursuits, where happiness can heal wounds, help people grow up, they believe in goodness, believe in Buddha.

Visiting Bhutan on sunny autumn days, also in the dry season, autumn leaves falling, the sky is light blue, smoke rises from the kitchens still lit by firewood, nothing is modern, no need to modernize but the civilization and kindness of the Bhutanese people is not inferior to anywhere else." - Phong Nguyen.

While in many other countries, traditional costumes are kept for special occasions, such as New Year's Eve, in Bhutan, traditional clothes are for everyday wear, and people feel happy when they wear traditional costumes.
