Around May each year, when the sun becomes more intense and the sky is clear and cloudless, the flame trees in Vung Tau burst into bloom simultaneously. Clusters of orange-red flowers cover the canopy, interspersed with green leaves, creating vibrant splashes of color against the backdrop of the seaside city. This is also the time when the city enters one of its most beautiful seasons of the year, with sunshine, gentle breezes, and colorful blossoms that bring every street corner to life.

The flame tree flowering season in Vung Tau usually lasts about one to two months, with the most beautiful blooms occurring from early May to mid-June. If the weather is favorable, without prolonged heavy rain or strong winds, the flowers can bloom longer. Some trees bloom profusely all at once, covering the entire canopy with red, while others bloom in waves, with one layer falling as another bursts open. Therefore, throughout the early summer days, Vung Tau is almost always dotted with streaks of red flame tree blossoms.

The parking area at the foot of the lighthouse has a row of about 20-30 flame trees in full bloom, their red blossoms blending with the blue of the sea and the green of the forest.

Amidst the characteristic sunshine of Southern Vietnam, the flame tree blossoms make the city seem hotter in color, yet calmer in emotion. The flowers aren't densely packed to the point of being overwhelming, nor do they become a fixed "check-in spot," but rather they are present naturally, interwoven into daily life. They can be found on a sunny street corner, in the courtyard of an old school, beside a road overlooking the sea, or quietly on a sidewalk where the sound of waves echoes in the distance.

Many people choose to visit Vung Tau in the summer to swim in the sea, relax on weekends, or find a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. But if you visit during the season when the flamboyant trees are in bloom, the trip often leaves you with an extra layer of memories. It's the vibrant red blossoms high above, the petals scattered on the sun-drenched pavement, and the moment you look up and see the entire sky illuminated.

And perhaps that's why the flamboyant tree blossom season in Vung Tau is always eagerly awaited. Not overly boisterous, and without prior arrangement, the flowers return when the sun reaches its peak, painting the coastal city in a vibrant red. Amidst the sound of waves, the smell of sea salt, and the scorching summer days, Vung Tau suddenly takes on a gentle charm, both fresh and nostalgic, as if summer is blooming on every street.
