Most people are annoyed when they have to wait too long for their food to be served, especially in famous and award-winning restaurants, the waiting time will also be longer. But at Krane Garibaldi, this is the opposite, this is a famous restaurant in Guadalajara, the capital of the Mexican state of Jalisco. Coming here, you will experience the shortest serving time in the world.
Karne Garibaldi, a famous restaurant in Guadalajara, Mexico, holds the Guinness World Record for serving food at a speed of about 13.5 seconds.
The time from ordering to the food being served here takes only 13.5 seconds, which almost everyone who has dined here feels extremely impressed. That is also the reason why Karne Garibaldi holds the Guinness World Record for serving the fastest food in the world since 1996 until now.
While the traditional Mexican dishes on the menu require hours of slow cooking, requiring hours of simmering, meaning they must be prepared and prepared in advance, plating and delivering food from the kitchen to the diner’s table in less than 15 seconds still requires a high level of speed and coordination.
After the diners have chosen their dishes, only about 15 seconds later, the dishes are served in front of them.
“It started as a game between the waiters to see who could bring food to each table the fastest. Then, that game led us to try to set a Guinness World Record,” said Daniel Flores, manager of the largest of Karne Garibaldi’s six branches.
However, this does not stop with the Guinness World Record. 26 years later, the waiters at Karne Garibaldi still pride themselves on being the fastest waiters in the world, sometimes bringing dishes to the table as early as 13.5 seconds, or for some special dishes, the slowest serving time is just under 1 minute.
Although the traditional Mexican dishes on the menu require hours of slow cooking, requiring hours of simmering means they must be prepared and prepared in advance.
According to Laura Mariaud - manager of Karne Garibaldi said: "In addition to speed, Karne Garibaldi still pays great attention to the quality of the dishes and the service attitude of all the staff. Of course, we train our staff to learn how to work efficiently, but there is a process behind the food preparation that allows the work process to take place quickly. This is how we make the service turn into a production chain to maintain the title until now".
Karne Garibaldi’s most famous dish is carne en su jugo, a regional specialty originating from Guadalajara and the state of Jalisco. It is also the only main course on the menu. Since Karne Garibaldi opened in 1970, it has been prepared using a family recipe passed down through generations, making it one of the most authentic Mexican dishes. Served in clay pots created by artisans in the Tonala district of the city, carne en su jugo is essentially a soup with juicy beef and crispy bacon, served with homemade corn tortillas.
The most famous dish at Karne Garibaldi is carne en su jugo.
Karne Garibaldi also makes a popular tortilla-based refried bean dish. The beans are so popular that, despite only having six locations in Guadalajara, Karne Garibaldi sells canned beans in supermarkets across Mexico.
Having set a Guinness World Record, Karne Garibaldi has attracted diners from all over Mexico, the US and Europe, so they cannot afford to let service standards slip.
Not only is this restaurant listed in the Guinness Book of Records, it has also held the title for the past 25 years. The staff here pride themselves on being able to deliver food to the table in a short amount of time.
To keep things fast but not chaotic, staff are trained to communicate with hand signals, while a green light next to the kitchen flashes whenever an order is ready. New employees start behind the bar or wash dishes until they’re ready to head out to serve. Beyond Guadalajara, Karne Garibaldi plans to open more franchises across Mexico, followed by the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
