Through many generations and many ups and downs, Peugeot still retains the characteristics that are deeply ingrained in the subconscious of car enthusiasts in terms of brand value, design and the most famous technological inventions. Below are some memorable milestones of the Peugeot brand during its 200-year development. Throughout its 200-year development, Peugeot has produced many famous car models in the world, possessing the highest design standards set by the company, both interior and exterior. Each car is a timeless work and every detail represents a creative process. Right from its inception (1810) and throughout its development, each Peugeot has had the perfect combination of high aesthetic characteristics commensurate with practical operating requirements.
Armand Peugeot with his French vision of car making
Armand Peugeot led the Peugeot brand into the automobile industry when he founded a company called Serpollet-Peugeot. In 1889, he introduced the first three-wheeled vehicle with a steam engine in collaboration with Léon Serpollet. Just one year later, Armand Peugeot replaced the steam engine with a gasoline engine with the first four-wheeled Peugeot using a Daimler engine. Armand Peugeot's collaboration with Serpollet, Daimler and Michelin made him famous in the automotive technology of that time through the transition from steam engines to gasoline engines, from steering wheel grips to round steering wheels, from simple wheels to wheels with tubes and tires.

Then, with the cooperation of Ford and BMW, Peugeot became one of the world's leading car manufacturers with advanced technology, powerful engines and low CO2 emissions. Peugeot cars are increasingly environmentally friendly, typically models with HDi FAP diesel engines, THP and VTI gasoline engines. Today, Peugeot has become a famous brand all over the world. The globalization strategy has brought Peugeot cars to many countries around the world and demonstrated the strong spirit of this long-standing brand.
The Peugeot 201 was widely produced as the basis for the 3-digit vehicle name recognition system.
In 1929, Peugeot registered the exclusive 3-digit vehicle identification system and is widely used to this day. The success of the Peugeot 201 in the automobile market laid the foundation for the appearance of the 301 (produced from 1932), 401 and 601 (from 1934). Before World War II, the Peugeot 401, 301 and 201 were successively replaced by the Peugeot 402 (from 1935), 302 (from 1936) and 202 (from 1938).

Since 1930, Peugeot has affirmed three basic elements that make up the brand's name: the 3-digit car name system with the number 0 in the middle, the development of each car line through generations and the success in satisfying customers' needs thanks to new innovations. Since 2011, the modern Peugeot models of the 206 and 207 lines have been born. In 2012, the 208 line continued to be present and has gone through eight generations with the 308 CC and 308 SW, 508 and 508 SW. From the success of the 1007, Peugeot decided to diversify its product line with large sizes including the Peugeot 4007 SUV, Peugeot 3008 Crossover and the Peugeot 5008 multi-purpose vehicle line. Next, Peugeot developed the 508 RXH and 3008 HYbrid4.
From the 404 convertible to the elegant RCZ
Peugeot was the first car company to mass produce convertibles worldwide. As early as 1934, the Peugeot Eclipse 401 and 601 models were introduced. The typical Peugeot convertible after World War II, the 203, was introduced at the Paris Motor Show (1951). In 1962, the Peugeot 404 was honored as the most beautiful convertible of the 1960s.

By 2011, Peugeot's convertible models continued to be successfully developed, such as the 207 CC, 308 CC, and 407 Coupé. It is also impossible not to mention the Peugeot RCZ because since its introduction (in 2010), more than 30,000 RCZs have been sold throughout Europe. Currently, Peugeot RCZ has been sold in more than 80 countries worldwide.
Peugeot 205 with legendary numbers
In 1983, Peugeot launched the 205. Just one year later, it became a legend with the GTI engine. The Peugeot 205 with Turbo 16 won two World Rally Championship titles in 1985 and 1986. Over 5 million Peugeot 205s were produced before being replaced by the Peugeot 206 (1998). The 206 broke the record of its predecessor with 6.5 million sold.

The success of the 205 and 206 enabled Peugeot to develop an internationalization strategy. In 1998, Peugeot signed an agreement with the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro to build a car factory in the city of Porto Real, where the first Peugeot 206 was produced in December 2010. Meanwhile, the Peugeot 207, launched in 2006, went on to become the best-selling car in Europe in 2007.
The success of the two models above continued to create the premise for the birth of Peugeot 208 in 2012. This model is considered a design model that is true to the tradition of previous generations (205, 206, 207), and marks the innovation of the small car brand Peugeot with a new "Floating" grill, the driver's compartment is optimized with a modern touch screen, very low CO2 emissions (87g / km from diesel engines and 99g / km for petrol engines).
Historic doubles at races
In 2009, Peugeot Sport made a name for itself at the Le Mans 24-hour race with the 908 HDi FAP. This was a well-deserved reward for the Peugeot team.
As early as 1985 - 1986, Peugeot became known through the World Rally Champion competition with the Peugeot 205 equipped with Turbo 1.6. Then, in 1987 - 1988, Peugeot continued to make its name at Paris-Dakar (with 205 T16) and then two more years 1989 - 1990 (with 405 T16).

In November 2011, Peugeot scored another victory with the 908 HDi FAP at the ILMC Endurance Championship in Zhuhai (China). Peugeot continues to set new records in the field of sports cars and bring customers new experiences with new technology. The company has also accompanied the French Open for the past 14 years, being a partner of the Lancôme Trophy until 2003. Always having a special affection for Golf, in 2010, this car manufacturer organized the Golf tournament "Peugeot RCZ Cup".
In 1989, Peugeot became the official partner and transportation provider of the French Tennis Open and launched a series of new models at Roland-Garros, starting with the 205 hatchback, continuing with the current 207 CC and 308 CC. November 2011 marked the 15th anniversary of Peugeot's sponsorship of the Stade Toulousain rugby team. At that time, Peugeot introduced the 207 Stade Toulousain (the Limited Edition).
Continue to reach out globally
2010 marked a significant event: the 200th anniversary of the Peugeot brand, the Peugeot lion and the two were changed once again. Peugeot designers created a simpler and more dynamic symbol, which carries a new meaning of "movement and emotion" in a new stance.

Ambition to lead European cars in the Vietnamese market
Choosing Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco) as the exclusive distributor, assembler and manufacturer of the Peugeot brand in Vietnam, in 2013, Peugeot officially returned to this market with the Peugeot 408 model. After more than a year of launching, Peugeot has developed 8 genuine showrooms across the country. The Peugeot brand is increasingly enthusiastically received by customers, notably the Peugeot 208, 3008 and 508.
