The world-famous travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler (USA) announced the Readers' Choice Awards 2025. Within the framework of this prestigious award, with the participation of nearly one million readers worldwide, Phu Quoc was honored in first place in Asia and third place globally in the list of "The most wonderful islands in the world".
More specifically, with an impressive score of 95.51/100, the Pearl Island has surpassed a series of globally famous "tourist paradises" such as Maldives (92.31 points), Maui of Hawaii (93.35 points), Bali (89.84 points) or Phuket (84.62 points), officially entering the ranks of the best destinations on the planet. This is the 4th consecutive year Phu Quoc has appeared in the rankings, with scores and rankings increasing dramatically, marking a meteoric rise of the island on the international tourism map, just behind two famous American islands, Kiawah and Hilton Head.
Phu Quoc is the only representative of Vietnam to appear in the list of “The most wonderful islands in the world”, with a score of 95.51, an increase compared to last year and rising to the top of the list of representatives from Asia.
Phu Quoc’s impressive performance is the result of absolute satisfaction from readers across a wide range of rigorous criteria. The Pearl Island’s score of 95.51 is calculated based on a comprehensive assessment of service quality, natural scenery, beach beauty, unique cuisine and the hospitality of its people.
Located about 400 km west of Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc is the largest island in Vietnam with an area of nearly 589 km². This island has all the elements that make international tourists fall in love. Phu Quoc is a place where tourists can enjoy the clear blue beach and explore the primeval forest. Phu Quoc National Park, a "green lung" of more than 31,000 hectares, is a place to preserve many rare species of flora and fauna. Tourists can listen to the murmuring sound of Tranh stream or conquer the top of Nui Chua to capture the whole view of the Pearl Island in their sight.
This is considered a spectacular achievement of Phu Quoc and is also the 4th consecutive year that the Pearl Island has appeared in the rankings, with scores and rankings increasing dramatically each year. In 2024, Phu Quoc ranked 2nd in Asia, after Bali.
The South Island attracts visitors with Sao Beach with its fine white sand and turquoise sea water. The North Island is famous for Rach Vem fishing village, known as the "kingdom of starfish", offering a rustic and close-to-nature experience.
In addition, the island also boasts iconic tourist experiences such as the world's longest oversea cable car connecting to Hon Thom, coral diving, jet skiing, or having fun at a modern water park.
If 2024 is considered the year Phu Quoc transforms from a “hidden gem” to a global destination, then 2025 will continue to mark its rapid development. The prestige and brand recognition of Phu Quoc is not only proven through awards, but also through telling numbers.
According to the An Giang Department of Tourism, after 9 months of 2025, the number of international visitors to Phu Quoc reached over 1.2 million, an increase of 65.8% over the same period and exceeding the annual plan by 2.1%. Total revenue from tourism in Phu Quoc after 9 months reached about 31,100 billion VND, an increase of 90.1% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 32.5%. The tourist market to Phu Quoc is increasingly diverse, with statistics showing that the Pearl Island welcomes visitors from 150 countries and territories.

Phu Quoc’s rise has attracted special attention from international media. Forbes Italia called it “the new destination for Asia’s elite”, while Straits Times praised Phu Quoc as “Vietnam’s paradise island”. Travel + Leisure magazine called Phu Quoc’s rise “the extraordinary rise” of a tourist destination, distinguished by its excellent service quality.
The event of Phu Quoc entering the global Top 3, surpassing other names in the world, is not only an award but also a recognition for the comprehensive transformation journey of the Pearl Island. From a little-known destination, Phu Quoc has truly become a "global phenomenon", proving the competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism with the world's tourism powers. In addition, Phu Quoc is the only place in Vietnam with a superior visa policy, visa exemption for all tourists in the world for a period of up to 30 days, further increasing the attractiveness and convenience for international tourists. This is a great source of motivation for Phu Quoc to continue to develop in the direction of quality, class, exploiting the wild beauty combined with luxury services, affirming its position as one of the most beautiful and worth-experiencing islands on the planet.
