The prestigious travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler (USA) announced the Readers' Choice Awards 2025. Within the framework of this prestigious award, with the participation of nearly one million readers worldwide, Phu Quoc was outstandingly honored with the first place in Asia and third place globally on the list of "The World's Best Islands".
More specifically, with an impressive score of 95.51/100, Phu Quoc Island surpassed a series of globally renowned "tourist paradises" such as the Maldives (92.31 points), Maui in Hawaii (93.35 points), Bali (89.84 points), and Phuket (84.62 points), officially earning its place among the best destinations on the planet. This is the fourth consecutive year that Phu Quoc has appeared in the ranking, with a significant increase in score and ranking position, marking a phenomenal development of the island on the international tourism map, second only to two famous US islands, Kiawah and Hilton Head.
Phu Quoc is the only representative from Vietnam to appear on the list of "The World's Best Islands," with a score of 95.51, an increase from last year and rising to the top among Asian representatives.
Phu Quoc's spectacular achievement is the result of overwhelming satisfaction from readers across many stringent criteria. The Pearl Island's score of 95.51 is calculated based on a comprehensive assessment of service quality, natural scenery, the beauty of its beaches, unique cuisine, and the hospitality of its people.
Located approximately 400 km west of Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc is Vietnam's largest island, covering nearly 589 km². This island possesses many elements that captivate international tourists. Phu Quoc offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy pristine beaches while exploring its primeval forests. Phu Quoc National Park, the "green lung" of the island, spans over 31,000 hectares and is home to many rare and endangered plant and animal species. Visitors can listen to the gentle murmur of the Tranh stream or conquer the summit of Mount Chua to take in panoramic views of the island.
This is considered a spectacular achievement for Phu Quoc and also the fourth consecutive year that the Pearl Island has appeared in the rankings, with scores and rankings increasing significantly each year. In 2024, Phu Quoc ranked second in Asia, after Bali.
The southern part of the island is attractive because of Sao Beach with its fine white sand and turquoise waters. The northern part of the island is notable for Rach Vem fishing village, known as the "kingdom of starfish," offering a rustic and close-to-nature experience.
In addition, the island also boasts iconic tourist experiences such as the world's longest sea-crossing cable car connecting to Hon Thom Island, coral reef diving, jet skiing, and fun at a modern water park.
If 2024 was considered the year Phu Quoc transformed from a "hidden gem" into a global destination, then 2025 will continue to mark phenomenal growth. Phu Quoc's prestige and brand recognition are not only demonstrated through awards, but also through compelling statistics.
According to the An Giang Department of Tourism, after the first nine months of 2025, the number of international visitors to Phu Quoc reached over 1.2 million, an increase of 65.8% compared to the same period and exceeding the annual plan by 2.1%. Total tourism revenue in Phu Quoc after nine months reached approximately 31,100 billion VND, an increase of 90.1% compared to the same period and exceeding the annual plan by 32.5%. The market for visitors to Phu Quoc is becoming increasingly diverse, with statistics showing that the Pearl Island welcomes visitors from 150 countries and territories.

Phu Quoc's breakthrough has attracted significant international media attention. Forbes Italia called it "the new destination for Asia's elite," while the Straits Times lauded Phu Quoc as "Vietnam's paradise island." Travel + Leisure magazine called Phu Quoc's rise an "extraordinary rise" of a tourist destination, notable for its excellent service quality.
Phu Quoc's inclusion in the global Top 3, surpassing world-renowned destinations, is not just an award but a recognition of the island's comprehensive transformation. From a little-known destination, Phu Quoc has truly become a "global phenomenon," demonstrating Vietnam's ability to compete on equal footing with the world's leading tourism powers. Furthermore, Phu Quoc is the only place in Vietnam with a superior visa policy, granting visa-free entry to all international tourists for up to 30 days, further enhancing its attractiveness and convenience for international visitors. This serves as a tremendous impetus for Phu Quoc to continue developing in a high-quality, upscale direction, leveraging its pristine beauty combined with luxury services, affirming its position as one of the most beautiful and worthwhile islands to experience on the planet.
