17/10/2023

From October 17, 2023 to March 31, 2024, tourists visiting Thailand will receive a free SIM card that allows high-speed internet access.

This initiative is part of the “Welcome Back to Thailand” campaign launched by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and AIS 5G. The SIM card will come with a range of privileges and digital services.

Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, Deputy Director of International Marketing for TAT in Asia and the South Pacific, said the campaign is a strategic move to stimulate tourism in Thailand during the year-end season. The distribution of one million SIM cards will be handled by TAT's Asia and South Pacific regional offices, in collaboration with various international tourism agencies, airlines, and associations.

In addition to free internet access, tourists can enjoy many other benefits such as free travel insurance, promotions from shopping malls like Central Group, King Power, Siam Piwat (Siam Centre, Siam Discovery and Siam Paragon), and travel and transportation services from providers such as TAGTHai, Sixt Car Rental, Grab Thailand, etc.

Mr. Chattan stated that Thailand welcomed over 20.3 million foreign tourists in 2023. Of these, the number of visitors from Asia and the Pacific increased significantly, reaching approximately 14.7 million, including tourists from China, Malaysia, and India.
