PROVACUNO's promotional activities began with a press conference on April 23rd and an event for importers, distributors, and relevant authorities on April 24th to introduce European beef products in general, and Spanish beef in particular. In addition, PROVACUNO will participate in the Food & Hotel Vietnam 2019 exhibition held in Ho Chi Minh City from April 24th to 26th.

The aforementioned activities are part of PROVACUNO's three-year promotional campaign in Vietnam (starting last year, 2018). The goal of this campaign is to introduce to the media, relevant authorities, and trade organizations the characteristics of European beef and the European Model of Production (MPE). By strictly adhering to the standards of the European production model, the Spanish beef industry delivers top-quality meat products that meet food safety standards, controlled by a farm-to-table traceability system to ensure health benefits, safety, minimized environmental impact, and high meat quality.

At the event, Mr. José Ramón Godoy, International Director of the Spanish Beef Industry Food and Agriculture Association (Provacuno), stated that the first four Spanish companies have been granted import licenses by Vietnam, and seven others are awaiting approval. Vietnam, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates are considered potential markets. Furthermore, Spain is one of the largest beef producers in Europe, with an annual output of 650,000 tons; of which 175,000 tons are exported annually.

Recently, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) verified and confirmed that Spanish beef products fully meet food safety and hygiene standards, with a very low risk of mad cow disease. Therefore, the first four Spanish companies have been granted licenses by the Vietnamese Veterinary Authority to export beef to Vietnam.
According to Provacuno's assessment, Vietnam is one of the potential markets for Spanish beef due to its large population (over 100 million); the majority of whom are young and are the main consumers of beef; and the Vietnamese preference for dishes made from meat, including beef. Provacuno also stated that it has exported a small quantity of European beef to Vietnam to introduce its products to consumers. The group also has a three-year promotional plan, starting from the end of 2018, with the goal of boosting beef exports to the Vietnamese market in the near future.

José Ramón Godoy also explained that the nutritional characteristics of European beef are based on the feed source, which includes grains and seeds with high nutritional value. Spanish beef stands out due to its sustainable farming practices, stemming from factors such as high-quality feed, a diverse age range of the breeds at slaughter, a wide variety of meat cuts, and quality certification.

Vietnam is one of the key markets that PROVACUNO is striving to target, thanks to its great development potential with over 100 million people, GDP growth, beef consumption, and the opening of the Vietnamese market to importers from Spain.
From April 24th to 26th, PROVACUNO will be present at the Food & Hotel Vietnam 2019 exhibition to provide information about European beef to attendees.
