The theme of the 2019 Orchid Festival is “Tropical Colors”. At the 2019 Orchid Festival, it is expected that 111,814 flower pots and plants of all kinds from more than 900 individuals and organizations from 19 provinces and cities across the country will be displayed and compete.
Of these, there are about 14,000 trees, orchid pots and 97,811 ornamental flowers of all kinds and tens of thousands of types of background flowers brought from Sa Dec flower village (Dong Thap) to display for visitors to admire with an exhibition area of about 10 hectares.
Along with introducing orchid species to visitors, the Organizing Committee of the Orchid Festival 2019 also organizes professional seminars, analysis of cultivation techniques; organizes orchid competitions, bonsai competitions; design competitions, sells tourism programs associated with agricultural tourism destinations; garden landscape design competitions to create a playground for artisans, flower and ornamental plant growers to have the opportunity to exchange and share experiences in caring for and breeding beautiful and unique flowers and ornamental plants...
At the Orchid Festival 2019, domestic and foreign tourists also have the opportunity to learn about the City's agricultural and eco-tourism models. Recently, Ho Chi Minh City's agricultural tourism has been developing strongly, contributing to increasing people's income in the process of building new rural areas in the City.
A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that in addition to the main display location at Tao Dan Park, the City Department of Tourism and Saigon Tourist Corporation (Saigontourist) also designed displays, promoted and introduced orchid products at locations that attract many tourists such as the City Post Office, Museum, airport, hotels and accommodation facilities from 3 to 5 stars.
The 2019 Orchid Festival is one of the meaningful activities to celebrate April 30 and May 1 in Ho Chi Minh City. The city will also organize fireworks displays at many locations to serve tourists visiting and celebrating the holiday in the city. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City will display high-altitude fireworks at the beginning of the Saigon River tunnel (Thu Thiem Ward, District 2), Landmark building and Vinhomes park area in Vinhomes Center Park urban area (Ward 22, Binh Thanh District), and low-altitude fireworks at Dam Sen Cultural Park. Fireworks will be displayed from 9:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. on April 30, 2019.
