Ho Chi Minh City promotes tourism to Hong Kong

Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center and Fayfay.com have just signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic cooperation to promote Ho Chi Minh City destinations to tourists from Hong Kong and China.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr. Tran Ngoc Dong Quan - Deputy Director of the Tourism Promotion Center, together with Mr. Kingston Lai and Mr. Kelvin Wu - co-founders of Fayfay.com Company.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, “The Chinese tourist market has been assessed as an important and very potential market for the Vietnamese tourism industry in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular. According to data from the General Department of Tourism, the number of Chinese tourists to Vietnam in 2017 was more than 4 million, an increase of 48.6% compared to 2016, accounting for 2.5% of the total number of Chinese tourists going abroad. In 2017, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 532,644 visitors, accounting for 13.3% of Chinese tourists to the whole country, an increase of 33% over the same period. In the first 6 months of 2018 alone, Chinese tourists to Ho Chi Minh City reached 495,356, an increase of 21.8% over the same period. Chinese tourists to Vietnam usually stay for 6-7 days, spending an average of about 639 USD/person/trip, equivalent to about 90 USD/person/day. With the advantage of currently having many direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to major cities in China every day, it is forecasted that in late 2018 and 2019, tourists from Hong Kong, China will continue to increase.
