At 11:40 AM today in Hanoi, Vietnam, Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong, Deputy General Director of Vietjet (Vietnam), a new-generation airline, and Ms. Mary Ellen Jones, Deputy General Director of Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (USA), signed a contract for the supply of PurePower Geared Turbofan engines and maintenance and repair services for the new-generation A320 NEO and A321 NEO aircraft that Vietjet has ordered from the aircraft supplier.

The contract is worth a total of US$3.04 billion. The official signing ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in the presence of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tran Dai Quang, and US President Barack Obama, along with high-ranking leaders from both countries.

This event follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Vietjet and Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp., at the Singapore Airshow in February 2016.

Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp., won the international tender to become the engine supplier for Vietjet. The engines supplied by Pratt & Whitney are highly rated for their operational efficiency in Vietjet's operations. With these engines, Vietjet's fuel consumption has decreased by 17%, demonstrating improved business management and contributing to environmental protection.
