A signature fish of the Lagi sea region, the yellowfin scad is always a favorite among locals and tourists alike, because its sweet, fragrant flesh, when eaten with rice paper rolls, cucumber, and green vegetables after enjoying a refreshing swim in the clear blue sea, is simply incomparable.
The small, 10-15 cm long scad fish is caught by fishermen in the nearshore waters. Here, tourists can borrow small basket boats and a few fishing rods to try their hand at fishing. After casting their nets, they can sit adrift in the basket boat, fishing for scad while gazing at the blue sea of their homeland stretching to the horizon.

After catching the fish, clean and drain it, then finely chop green chilies, add a little MSG and salt, and let it marinate for about 10 minutes. The fish is then ready to be grilled until fragrant. When visiting Lagi, besides enjoying a variety of fresh seafood, there's a specialty you shouldn't miss: scad fish salad. Scad fish has a sweet taste, firm flesh, and a fragrant aroma. After being caught, the fish is cleaned, deboned, and filleted into thin slices. Lemon juice is squeezed over it, and it's left to marinate for 5-10 minutes until slightly cooked. Then, it's mixed with green onions, carrots, peanuts, fried shallots, salt, and pepper to taste.
