Hamwolsan (Hàm Nguyệt Sơn), Golgulsa Temple, is located at No. 304, An-dong-ri, Yangbuk-myeon, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, in the Gyeongbuk hill area, three miles inland from the East Sea.

Here, the ancient Zen martial arts of Sunmudo (Zen Martial Arts) are still maintained and developed in Korea under the direct leadership of Buddhist Zen masters.

This form of Zen martial arts (Sunmudo) is not only a gathering place for artists, intellectuals, and tourists from all over the country, but also attracts people from around the world to enjoy and learn from it.

Upon arriving at this ancient temple, everyone strictly adheres to the rules and discipline of the Zen Martial Arts University (Sunmudo), also known as the Diamond Gate (Kumkangmun), and their minds become relaxed and peaceful through Zen practice.

For visitors and students alike, this is a unique opportunity to experience an ancient style and fighting spirit. It's a place to practice transcending the cycle of life and death to resolve inner conflicts and increase spiritual energy, leading to heightened confidence and self-control, free from external influences.

It is a great privilege to be taught Zen martial arts (Sunmudo). This is the very place where the physical and mental experience through the power of Zen begins.

Sunmudo (Zen Martial Arts) was founded by Bodhidharma, a wise and holy monk from India who was the first to introduce Buddhism to Korea 1,600 years ago, during the Silla dynasty. Since then, Sunmudo has been secretly passed down through the centuries within Korean Buddhism.

Golgulsa Temple, an ancient temple, is the oldest surviving treasure in the history of Korean Buddhism and is built within a cave. It features a four-meter-tall image of Buddha carved into the cliff face of Mount Hamguk, a hillside known as the Twelve Meditation Caves, created by Indian mystics in the 9th century. It is the center of Zen martial arts (Sunmudo), also known as the Vajra Gate (Kumkangmun).

Sun (Korean) or Zen (Japanese) is a way to open the Eye of Wisdom. In other words, it is a method of practice to attain the Absolute Essence through the power of meditation. "Mu" means "Martial Arts" and "Dao" means path or duty, absolute reason. The training method, in the esoteric forms of Buddhism, is an experiential path of Zen Martial Arts combined with Qigong and Yoga to develop the energy of body and mind, purifying the three karmas: Body, Speech, and Mind, for peace and tranquility with each step.

From the realm of relative existence, one can directly enter the absolute world, where all suffering ceases forever, and one truly begins to live in a world of complete self-reliance, freedom, and liberation. Golgulsa Temple currently has thousands of martial arts students who come here to study and practice Zen martial arts...
