In the jubilant atmosphere across the country, looking forward to the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), Hanoi is urgently preparing for the national-level commemorative ceremony, parade, and march.
This is a momentous political event, reflecting national pride and profound gratitude to the generations of ancestors who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. The Central Committee of the Party, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the city of Hanoi will coordinate to organize a solemn and magnificent ceremony befitting the historical significance of the event.
To ensure security and safety during the commemorative activities, the Hanoi City Police Department announces traffic diversion and route guidance for vehicles.
The official commemoration ceremony will begin at 6:30 AM on September 2nd, 2025, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, where President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam 80 years ago.
To ensure the success of the ceremony, a detailed preparation and rehearsal plan was implemented early on. Rehearsal sessions and preliminary rehearsals were meticulously scheduled to ensure everything ran smoothly and precisely. Specifically, the first and second rehearsal sessions took place on the nights of August 21st and 24th. Following that, a preliminary rehearsal was held on the night of August 27th, and a final dress rehearsal took place on the morning of August 30th.
Many roads have been completely closed to all vehicles.
These are crucial preparation phases, not only helping participating forces familiarize themselves with the terrain and scenarios, but also providing a basis for relevant authorities, especially the Hanoi City Police, to refine plans for ensuring security, safety, and traffic flow management.
Traffic safety is one of the top priorities. To facilitate the activities of the Anniversary Celebration, the Hanoi City Police have announced a detailed traffic diversion plan. A series of key roads in the central area of the capital will be completely closed to traffic during specific time slots. The road closure times are clearly defined, coinciding with the rehearsal schedule and the official Anniversary Celebration. Specifically, the complete closures will take place from 5:00 PM on August 21st to 3:00 AM on August 22nd; from 5:00 PM on August 24th to 3:00 AM on August 25th; and from 5:00 PM on August 27th to 3:00 AM on August 28th. from 6:00 PM on August 29th to 3:00 PM on August 30th and from 6:00 PM on September 1st to 3:00 PM on September 2nd.
On the routes within the area from Ring Road I to Ring Road II: a temporary ban is imposed on trucks with a design gross weight of 1.5 tons or more, and passenger vehicles with 16 seats or more.
The list of strictly closed streets includes a range of key thoroughfares, such as Hoang Hoa Tham, Thuy Khue, Phan Dinh Phung, Hung Vuong, Dien Bien Phu, Le Hong Phong, Ton Duc Thang, Cat Linh, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Le Duan, Trang Thi, Hang Khay, Trang Tien, and many others. Most of these streets are located within the inner city, surrounding Ba Dinh Square and the main parade areas. This underscores the importance of ensuring absolute security for the event area. Additionally, several other streets like Lieu Giai, Lang Ha, Lang, and Giang Vo are also on the list, demonstrating the extensive scope of the preparations.
People from provinces and localities traveling to Hanoi to attend the commemorative activities are advised to use passenger cars, public transportation, especially the elevated train.
Besides the complete ban, Hanoi police also implemented temporary bans and recommended traffic restrictions in many other areas. All vehicles (except priority vehicles) will be temporarily banned from roads inside Ring Road I. Trucks over 1.5 tons and passenger buses with 16 seats or more will be temporarily banned from the area between Ring Road I and Ring Road II. Furthermore, the city police recommended that people limit the use of private vehicles and motorcycles in the area between Ring Road I and Ring Road II, as well as on roads between Ring Road II and Ring Road III. Main roads leading to the outskirts of the city, such as National Highway 32, Thang Long Boulevard, Nguyen Trai Street, Quang Trung Street, etc., will also be subject to traffic restrictions to reduce traffic pressure and facilitate the activities of the ceremony.
To ensure security and safety, and to contribute to the successful organization of the commemoration ceremony, all road users are requested to voluntarily and strictly comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety.
During this time, finding alternative routes has become essential for residents. The city police have issued specific guidelines for vehicles from neighboring provinces. For example, vehicles from eastern provinces traveling south can use Thanh Tri Bridge and the elevated Ring Road III to reach the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway. Similarly, vehicles from northern provinces traveling south can use National Highway 2, Thang Long Bridge, and the elevated Ring Road III. Large trucks on the elevated Ring Road III are also advised to limit access to key intersections and comply with traffic control instructions.
When encountering priority vehicles displaying priority signals while on duty, promptly move to the right side of the road, stop completely, or turn into the nearest side road or intersection, yielding the right of way to the priority convoy.
To best serve the transportation needs of residents and tourists, the city police have also made proposals to relevant units. The Department of Construction, the Hanoi Transport Corporation, and the Vietnam Railway Corporation have been requested to increase public transport options, adjust bus routes, and even temporarily suspend the Hanoi - Dong Dang railway line that passes through restricted areas.
The city police strongly advise people from other provinces and localities attending the commemoration ceremony in Hanoi to use public transportation, especially elevated trains such as the Cat Linh - Ha Dong and Nho Son - Hanoi Station lines. This will not only help reduce traffic congestion but also provide a convenient and safe experience.
The Hanoi City Police also issued a call to all citizens to voluntarily and strictly comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety. When encountering priority vehicles, everyone should quickly move to the right side of the road, stop, or divert to the nearest side roads to give way. The cooperation of each citizen will contribute to the successful organization of a momentous event with profound historical significance for the nation, creating a beautiful image of a civilized, elegant, and disciplined capital city in the eyes of international friends.
