According to the newly issued Resolution No. 229/NQ-CP, Vietnam officially exempts visas for citizens of 12 European countries, including Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.

This Decree aims to attract the world's top talents, investors and experts. The list of visa-exempt subjects includes six main groups. The first is high-ranking guests of the Party and State. Next are experts, scholars, scientists and high-quality human resources in the field of digital technology. The third group includes investors and leaders of large economic groups in the world, who can bring capital and advanced technology to Vietnam.

The visa exemption policy when entering Vietnam for citizens of the above countries is implemented from August 15, 2025 to August 14, 2028.

Finally, another special group of subjects are guests of research institutes, universities and large enterprises, with a list specifically decided by the Government. These subjects, if qualified, will be exempted from visas for a period of up to 5 years, creating favorable conditions for them to work and contribute long-term in Vietnam.
