In order to strongly boost the tourism industry and attract high-quality human resources, the Vietnamese Government has just issued two important decisions on visa policy. This is considered a strategic step, affirming the country's determination to integrate and develop sustainably in the context of globalization.
According to the newly issued Resolution No. 229/NQ-CP, Vietnam officially grants visa exemption to citizens of 12 European countries, including Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
The government has just issued Resolution No. 229/NQ-CP on visa exemption under the tourism development stimulus program for citizens of 12 countries.
This policy applies to tourists with a temporary stay of up to 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, aiming to facilitate the best possible conditions for exploring and experiencing tourism. This decision will be effective from August 15, 2025, and will last until August 14, 2028, as part of an ambitious national tourism stimulus program.
Besides opening its doors to tourists, the Government also issued Decree No. 221/2025/ND-CP, stipulating long-term visa exemptions for special groups to serve socio-economic development.
Visa-free entry for citizens of the following countries: Kingdom of Belgium, Republic of Bulgaria, Republic of Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Republic of Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Republic of Slovenia, and Swiss Confederation.
This decree aims to attract top talent, investors, and experts from around the world. The list of visa-exempt individuals comprises six main groups. First are high-ranking guests of the Party and State. Next are experts, scholars, scientists, and highly qualified personnel in the field of digital technology. The third group includes investors and leaders of large global corporations who can bring capital and advanced technology to Vietnam.
With a temporary stay period of 45 days from the date of entry for tourism purposes, regardless of passport type, provided that all entry requirements stipulated by Vietnamese law are met.
In addition, this policy also applies to influential figures in the fields of culture, arts, sports, and tourism, as well as Honorary Consuls of Vietnam abroad.
The visa exemption policy for citizens of the aforementioned countries entering Vietnam will be implemented from August 15, 2025 to August 14, 2028.
Finally, another special group consists of guests of research institutes, universities, and large enterprises, with a list specifically determined by the Government. These individuals, if eligible, will be granted visa exemptions for up to five years, facilitating their long-term work and contributions in Vietnam. This demonstrates Vietnam's continuous improvement of its investment and working environment, aiming for a comprehensive future.
