In order to create a strong boost for the tourism industry and attract high-quality resources, the Vietnamese Government has just issued two important decisions on visa policy. This is considered a strategic step, affirming the country's determination to integrate and develop sustainably in the context of globalization.
According to the newly issued Resolution No. 229/NQ-CP, Vietnam officially exempts visas for citizens of 12 European countries, including Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.
The Government has just issued Resolution No. 229/NQ-CP on visa exemption under the Tourism Development Stimulus Program for citizens of 12 countries.
This policy applies to visitors with a temporary stay of up to 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, to create the most favorable conditions for exploring and experiencing tourism. This decision will take effect from August 15, 2025 and last until August 14, 2028, as part of an ambitious national tourism stimulus program.
In addition to opening the door to tourists, the Government also issued Decree No. 221/2025/ND-CP, regulating long-term visa exemption for special subjects to serve socio-economic development.
Visa exemption for citizens of the following countries: Kingdom of Belgium, Republic of Bulgaria, Republic of Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Republic of Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Republic of Slovenia and Swiss Confederation
This Decree aims to attract the world's top talents, investors and experts. The list of visa-exempt subjects includes six main groups. The first is high-ranking guests of the Party and State. Next are experts, scholars, scientists and high-quality human resources in the field of digital technology. The third group includes investors and leaders of large economic groups in the world, who can bring capital and advanced technology to Vietnam.
With a temporary stay period of 45 days from the date of entry for tourism purposes, regardless of passport type, on the basis of meeting all entry conditions according to the provisions of Vietnamese law.
In addition, this policy is also for influential people working in the fields of culture, arts, sports and tourism, along with Honorary Consuls of Vietnam abroad.
The visa exemption policy when entering Vietnam for citizens of the above countries is implemented from August 15, 2025 to August 14, 2028.
Finally, another special group of subjects are guests of research institutes, universities and large enterprises, with a list specifically decided by the Government. These subjects, if qualified, will be exempted from visas for a period of up to 5 years, creating favorable conditions for them to work and contribute long-term in Vietnam. This is proof that Vietnam is constantly improving its investment and working environment, aiming for a future of comprehensive development.
