Malaysia strengthens tourism cooperation with Vietnam towards the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.

The Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), through the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Agency's office in Vietnam, is organizing the “Malaysia Tourism, Arts, Culture and Food Festival 2025” in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. This event aims to promote bilateral tourism cooperation and advance the upcoming “Visit Malaysia 2026” campaign, in which Vietnam is identified as a key market in the ASEAN region.

The festival comprises two main activities: a Destination Introduction Seminar and Business Networking Event; along with the Malaysia Tourism, Arts, Culture and Food Festival 2025. These activities will take place from July 29th to August 2nd, 2025, aiming to connect industry partners, the media, and the public, while showcasing Malaysia's unique tourism products and promoting bilateral cooperation.

During events in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, His Excellency Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, officially announced Malaysia Tourism Year 2026, along with Malaysia Food & Culture Week and the Malaysia Second Home (MM2H) program.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing emphasized: “Vietnam has always been one of Malaysia’s most important tourism partners in Southeast Asia. We believe that this visit will further strengthen our partnerships, aiming for the common goal of developing sustainable, inclusive tourism that brings long-term benefits to both countries.”

The event also strongly affirms Malaysia's commitment to Vietnam, promising a brilliant period of development for bilateral tourism.

He also stated: “The series of events in Vietnam not only showcases the unique values ​​of Malaysian tourism, art, culture, and cuisine, but also serves as a bridge for cultural diplomacy, contributing to strengthening understanding and ties between the two friendly neighboring countries in ASEAN. This is an important milestone in Malaysia's international promotion strategy towards Visit Malaysia 2026.”

The Destination Introduction and Business Networking Workshop will bring together representatives from the tourism, aviation, and hospitality sectors of both countries to explore new cooperation opportunities. The program will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on July 29, 2025 (at Nikko Saigon Hotel) and in Hanoi on August 1, 2025 (at Sheraton Hanoi Hotel).

As of July 2025, there will be 164 direct flights per week between Malaysia and Vietnam, meeting the growing demand of travelers. The increased flight frequency provides travelers with greater flexibility in their schedules, while also boosting segments such as weekend getaways, MICE tourism, and business-leisure trips, which are particularly attractive to Vietnam's middle class and young people.

Malaysia is currently the second largest ASEAN market in terms of visitor numbers to Vietnam, after Cambodia, with 266,000 Malaysian visitors in the first five months of 2025. Conversely, Malaysia also welcomed 168,677 Vietnamese visitors during the same period, affirming its position as a favorite destination for Vietnamese tourists.
