Given the strong growth of Stand-up Paddleboarding (SUP) – an attractive water sport originating from Hawaii, which is attracting thousands of locals and tourists daily in Da Nang – the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang's tourist beaches (BQL) has officially issued detailed recommendations to ensure maximum safety, protect the marine environment, and maintain urban aesthetics.
To ensure the safety of paddlers, the management board clearly defines the golden hours for SUP paddling: from 4:30 AM to 8:00 AM in the morning and from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the afternoon. Visitors should not participate outside of these hours. In particular, the management board strongly warns against SUP paddling in bad weather, rough seas, or strong winds, to avoid unnecessary risks.
Da Nang beach is vibrant throughout the summer thanks to stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) activities.
Participants are required to strictly adhere to personal safety rules: always wear a life jacket and secure your leg harness throughout the paddling process. SUP paddling is only permitted in designated areas at Man Thai beach, away from swimming areas and especially from coral reef protection zones to preserve the valuable marine ecosystem.
In recent years, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) has boomed on the beaches of Da Nang, attracting a large number of locals and tourists, especially during the summer.
In addition, to maintain order and environmental hygiene, the management prohibits participants from bringing pets, organizing meals, or using stimulants while paddleboarding.
The management board also imposed strict regulations on organizations and individuals operating SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) services. Accordingly, these services are only allowed to operate within the licensed area and are strictly prohibited from encroaching on the beach bathing area for tourists and the coral reef protection zone.

One of the most important requirements is that service providers must be responsible for training and instructing customers on basic safety skills and disseminating rules and regulations before using the service. At the same time, there must always be staff accompanying and supervising customers throughout the paddling process. This is to ensure that all tourists have sufficient knowledge and support to experience SUP paddling in the safest way possible. The management board emphasizes that any violation of the above regulations will be strictly dealt with according to the law.
Players should choose safe SUP rental services with instructors; they should not paddle into swimming areas or coral reef protection zones.
