A tragic accident occurred this afternoon in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province, when the tourist boat QN-7105 suddenly capsized due to a storm, resulting in 48 tourists and 5 crew members being in distress.
Currently, rescue efforts are being urgently carried out by the authorities, despite challenging weather conditions.
According to initial information, the accident occurred at approximately 1:45 PM this afternoon in the sea area near Dau Go Cave, Ha Long Bay. The boat, carrying 48 tourists and 5 crew members, including many families with young children, had departed from Ha Long International Passenger Port (Bai Chay Ward) to undertake a tour on Route 2.

However, as the ship approached the Dau Go cave area, a sudden and violent storm struck, causing the ship to capsize. Dozens of passengers and crew members fell into the sea, screaming for help in panic.
Immediately after receiving reports of the serious incident, the leaders of Quang Ninh province promptly directed relevant forces to urgently deploy rescue and search operations for victims. Units such as the Police, Border Guard, Port Authority, and numerous rescue vessels were quickly mobilized to the scene.

By approximately 5 PM on the same day, the Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station, in coordination with forces from the Ha Long Bay Management Board, the Traffic Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police, the Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command, and the Customs Sub-department of Region 8, rescued 8 people, 3 died, and 40 people remain missing. The search for the missing is still being urgently carried out.

Although the rain had stopped by 5 PM, strong gusts of wind were still blowing over Ha Long Bay. The Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) also dispatched a special task force to the scene to coordinate and direct rescue efforts.
According to the latest update at 6 PM from the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, provincial leaders are present at the scene to directly supervise rescue efforts and ensure maximum safety for tourists and crew members. The highest priority now is to focus all resources on searching for those still missing and ensuring the safety of all victims.
The weather at sea is no longer as stormy as it was when the accident occurred, but heavy rain continues, and visibility is limited due to darkness, further complicating the search efforts. Authorities are making every effort to overcome these obstacles, hoping to find all the victims as quickly as possible.
