Representing Vietnam were Mr. Ho An Phong – Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai - Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration; Mr. Dang Anh Tuan – Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines and members of the Board of Directors and representatives from relevant units.
At the ceremony, representatives from both sides delivered speeches and exchanged commemorative gifts, demonstrating their commitment to long-term cooperation between the two countries. The Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines and the Director General of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board each spoke, affirming the strategic role of the cooperation between Vietnam Airlines and the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board in promoting bilateral tourism. Representatives from both sides also exchanged gifts to express trust, commitment, and a focus on sustainable development.

Also at the event, Mr. Dang Anh Tuan expressed his honor in welcoming the high-level Malaysian delegation, and emphasized the significance of the MoC in promoting aviation and tourism cooperation: “Based on the foundation of effective cooperation already established, we believe that the newly signed MoC will open the door to a deeper and more far-reaching cooperative relationship between Vietnam Airlines and the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board.”

Following the speeches, the official signing ceremony of the MoC commenced with Mr. Dang Anh Tuan – Deputy General Director representing Vietnam Airlines, and Mr. Datuk Manoharan Periasamy – Director General of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, representing Malaysia.
This MoC marks a significant step forward in the tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia, laying the foundation for promotional activities and expanding development opportunities. The two sides will coordinate bilateral tourism promotion through Vietnam Airlines' routes, prioritizing sustainable tourism development and areas of mutual interest. This collaboration not only strengthens Malaysia's tourism promotion strategy but also enhances the link between a leading Vietnamese airline and a prominent destination in Southeast Asia.
The ceremony, held at Vietnam Airlines' headquarters in Hanoi, marked a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of tourism and aviation.
In the coming period, Vietnam Airlines and the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board will implement a series of activities such as: co-branded promotional campaigns, field surveys, communication, event organization, and market information sharing. The goal is to make Malaysia a leading destination for both leisure and business travel, while promoting Vietnam Airlines as the preferred airline for Vietnamese tourists visiting Malaysia.


As of July 2025, there were 164 direct flights per week between the two countries with a total capacity of 29,734 seats, directly connecting major cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Da Lat, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang with Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, and Kota Kinabalu. These routes, operated by Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, AirAsia, Batik Air, and Malaysia Airlines, met the high demand for travel, tourism, and trade between the two countries.
This MoC marks a significant step forward in the tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia, laying the foundation for promotional activities and expanding development opportunities.
Besides aviation cooperation, Malaysia also aims to boost tourism promotion in Vietnam through thematic workshops, cultural events, and promotional campaigns targeting both mass and niche markets. Notable among these promotional activities are the Malaysian Madani Week in Hanoi, the Malaysia Tourism, Culture and Food Festival 2025 held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and long-term programs such as “Malaysia – My Second Home” (MM2H) and the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
