The theme "My Homeland's Seas and Islands" provides an opportunity for children to enhance their understanding of Vietnam's seas and islands, thereby fostering love for the nation's seas and islands. The program includes fun and exploratory activities such as: a competition to plant flags to locate Vietnamese islands on a blank map, learning about Vietnam's seas and islands, and drawing to express dreams about their homeland's seas and islands. In addition, there are traditional folk games using seafood, such as: shell-throwing, shell-shaking, and the "O An Quan" game using shells and snails…
With the theme "Folk Songs for Children," the children enjoyed some folk melodies from Bac Ninh and Hoa Binh provinces, and participated in various experiential and interactive activities such as learning folk songs, lullabies, and interacting with performers from these localities.
In addition, the children were guided by artisans from Thanh Oai (Hanoi) on how to make bamboo toys: sword-dancing puppets, swing puppets, fish, windmills, and bamboo-tube telephones. Notably, the "child models" showcased costumes from Vietnam and several other countries such as South Korea and Japan. This was an opportunity for the children to practice teamwork skills and build confidence in front of a crowd.
In organizing this year's International Children's Day program, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology aims to create a beneficial playground for children at the beginning of summer. The experiential activities at the Museum help children appreciate and develop a greater love for cultural heritage, their homeland, and the islands of Vietnam.
