In the first five months of 2024, Singapore welcomed over 155,000 visitors from Vietnam. In 2023, the island nation received over 13.6 million international visitors, with more than 458,000 of them from Vietnam. Singaporean tourism officials believe that the Lion City remains a favorite destination for Vietnamese tourists, and this positive trend is expected to continue throughout 2024.
This summer, Singapore promises to offer many exciting experiences for tourists from Vietnam in particular and the world in general.
Bubble Fiesta 2024
One of the highlights is the bubble festival held at Adventure Cove Waterpark, featuring many fun activities for all ages across 8 themed zones.
Visitors can enjoy the fun of a bubble shower at Bubble Boogie, explore a maze of giant inflatable balls at Bumble Rumble, and dance to lively music at the Dazzle Dance Floor in Grotto. In collaboration with DJ Dispensary, children can also try their hand at DJing at the park's wave pool. Additionally, visitors can shop for exclusive souvenirs showcasing the history of Adventure Cove Waterpark, Southeast Asia's leading water park.
A vibrant summer with "Despicable Me" at Universal Studios Singapore.
Additionally, during the summer, there was the “A Mega Despicable Summer” event at Universal Studios Singapore (USS), coinciding with the release of the popular animated film “Despicable Me 4” from Illumination studio.
One of the most exciting activities was the energetic flash mob performance by the Anti-Villain League (AVL) on New York Street.
In particular, exclusive souvenirs from "Despicable Me 4" will also be available at Universal Studios Store and Minion Mart, catering to the shopping needs of visitors.
Moreover, the grand opening of Singapore's largest lifestyle complex in 2024 promises to be a major highlight. Located on the site of the former Nan Chiau High School, the New Bahru complex, developed by The Lo & Behold Group, will welcome visitors with 40 prominent local brands, ranging from retail and food to lifestyle and wellness.
Scheduled to open in phases leading up to the official grand opening in September, this lifestyle complex is set to become a premier destination for both locals and tourists.
Furthermore, the A-list artist performances in 2024 have significantly boosted Singapore's tourism and economy. In the first quarter of 2024, the Singapore Sports Hub attracted over one million visitors, far exceeding the 700,000 visitors in the second half of 2023. In particular, several major performances drew around 840,000 visitors. This positive growth has led to a substantial increase in hotel occupancy rates and retail sales.
Music tourism is set to boom in Singapore this Summer 2024.
According to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), these performances have contributed to the growth of the tourism industry, with estimated revenue of S$350-450 million, according to private sector analysts.
Singapore intends to capitalize on this momentum to maintain its competitive edge in the music tourism market. Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, Edwin Tong, emphasized that music tourism is a promising sector, especially as artists increasingly seek to tour due to changes in streaming revenue.
To maintain this advantage, Singapore will continue to host large-scale performances in the future while focusing on upgrading its infrastructure. With concert venues flourishing across Asia, such as Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong and Bangkok Arena in Thailand, Singapore plans to replace the 12,000-seat Singapore Indoor Stadium with a world-class, state-of-the-art center.
With its safe and comprehensive infrastructure and numerous supportive government policies, Singapore remains a top destination for music tourism. Beyond major concerts, Singapore will continue to solidify its position by hosting a diverse range of other events, including major sporting events and cultural festivals.
