Donating internet classrooms to ethnic minority students in Gia Lai province.

06/09/2016

On the morning of September 5th, 2016, amidst the festive atmosphere of the opening ceremony celebrating the new school year, TransViet Group and RMIT University Vietnam donated an internet classroom with 21 computers to Gia Lai Ethnic Boarding High School – a school located in a disadvantaged area with over 100 students from the Gia Rai, Ede, and Bana ethnic minority groups who had never had access to computers or the internet.

This is the fourth computer lab donated under the "Thousands of Computers - Millions of Dreams" program. Previously, the program successfully held three computer lab donation events in Nghe An, Hoa Binh, and Son La provinces. "Thousands of Computers - Millions of Dreams" is a program initiated by TransViet Group, a company in the aviation and tourism sectors. The program aims to provide learning opportunities and access to technology for students in remote areas – where learning and interaction with the world are still extremely difficult. The program has received significant support from RMIT University Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines, Vietstar Express, and many other organizations and individuals across the country.

Following the ceremony, the program officially unveiled and handed over a classroom with 21 computers connected to the internet to Gia Lai Ethnic Boarding High School. This is a meaningful gift from the program to over 100 students, mostly from ethnic minority groups and lacking access to the internet. In addition to donating the computer room, the program also provides technological solutions to help teachers effectively monitor and manage students' internet usage, and organizes training courses to teach students how to use and utilize these tools for their studies.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Hoang Duc Huy, representative of TransViet Group, shared: “Coming to Gia Lai this time, we hope that the students at Gia Lai Ethnic Boarding High School will have more tools to explore knowledge and interact with the wider world. At the same time, this is also a gift to celebrate the new school year for the students, partly to further motivate them to go to school, so that they always feel the care and support from the community.”

In the future, the program will continue to prioritize reaching ethnic boarding schools, high schools in mountainous and remote areas, or schools that still face difficulties in equipping themselves with computers and internet access. To expand and spread this humanitarian message, the program always hopes to receive cooperation and support from organizations and individuals.
