Vietnam expands its nationwide tourism stimulus alliance.

The nationwide tourism stimulus alliance will implement various promotional programs to attract domestic tourists, while also planning to gradually reach out to international tourists once the pandemic ends.

On the afternoon of May 6th, during an online conference on solutions for restoring the tourism industry after Covid-19, the Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, Nguyen Huu Tho, emphasized that the industry's primary goal is to restore the domestic market, while also considering the international market.

According to him, during this period, Vietnamese tourism can resume operations, but it must be linked to safety. Regions without outbreaks, such as the Northwest, the Northern Delta, the Mekong Delta, and the South Central region, need to strengthen the promotion of their image and tourism products to attract domestic tourists first. Tour operators and hotels also need to implement promotional programs to encourage tourists to spend; however, price reductions should not compromise quality or service procedures.

In addition, Vietnam's tourism industry will develop more eco-tourism and long-stay resort tours to reduce travel, temporarily focusing on a single locality and limiting cross-Vietnam and inter-provincial tours so that tourists feel more secure when purchasing tours.

While previous tourism stimulus programs were implemented individually in specific regions, starting in mid-May, the alliance will expand to a nationwide scale. In the North, the Association will focus on tour products along the coastal strip, stretching from Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh. In addition, provinces in the Northwest and Northeast arc, such as Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, and Thai Nguyen, will also intensify promotion efforts to attract tourists to visit the two global geoparks.

In Central Vietnam, the focus of the stimulus campaign is Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Hue. In the Central Highlands and South Central region, the program will expand to Kon Tum and Dak Nong, in addition to the provinces that participated in the domestic tourism stimulus campaign since February. In Southern Vietnam, the Mekong Delta provinces will promote synchronized development with other localities nationwide. The Southeast region, including Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Vung Tau, and Dong Nai, will also actively participate in the alliance.

Travel and hotel associations can collaborate with airlines to create discounted tourism products without compromising quality, or maintain prices while adding services. Local authorities can coordinate with tourist areas and attractions to reduce ticket prices to attract domestic tourists and gradually revive the tourism industry after the Covid-19 pandemic.
