At exactly 7:00 AM on February 10th (the 6th day of the Lunar New Year, Year of the Pig 2019), the Giong Festival (Soc Son District, Hanoi) was officially inaugurated. After the general ceremony, eight offerings from various villages were successively moved into the courtyard of the Upper Temple for the rituals.

According to legend, Phu Linh commune, Soc Son district (Hanoi) is the last stop before Saint Giong ascended to heaven, so every year on the 6th day of the first lunar month, the villagers here hold a grand festival at the Soc Temple historical site dedicated to Saint Giong - Phu Dong Thien Vuong.
This year's Giong Temple Festival attracted a large number of people from all walks of life.
The festival was held in a solemn manner with all the necessary religious rituals.

The procession of the "female general" palanquin is a very important ritual, attracting the most attention from many people.
According to traditional customs, a "female general" must come from an exemplary family, have a pleasant and bright appearance, and be academically gifted. Therefore, for many families, having their children or grandchildren ride on the palanquin is a source of pride for the entire lineage.
Locals say that on several occasions, the young girls playing the role of "General" were kidnapped by other troupes, and their families had to pay a large ransom. Therefore, security measures are meticulously prepared.
