If you're traveling for the sake of experiencing street food, Jerusalem is one of the best places to do so. Join us as we wander through the eateries and enjoy delicious, nutritious, and affordable dishes in this city.

1. falafel

Falafel, or fried chickpea balls, is a traditional Middle Eastern dish. It's a wonderful blend of garlic, cumin, coriander, and chickpeas with a green filling of coriander and parsley. Add a glass of pomegranate juice for 7 Israeli shekels (US$2) and you'll have a hearty, antioxidant-rich meal for under US$5.

2. hummus

Hummus is made from mashed cooked chickpeas mixed with tahini sauce, olive oil, lime juice, salt, and garlic. You can buy it at countless supermarkets around the world, but none can compare to the kind you can easily find in the Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem. This street-style hummus is drizzled with oil and topped with fresh vegetables, making it much richer and more flavorful than the pre-packaged kind.

3. Fresh fruit juice

One of the most special things you can find in the markets of Israel in general and Jerusalem in particular is fresh fruit juice. Vendors squeeze out all kinds of seasonal fruit into juice, and the best time to enjoy these cool, sweet juices, especially pomegranate juice, is in the fall.

Schnitzel can be eaten on its own with vegetables or in a sandwich with fries, and don't forget to add some sauce.Schug(This hot sauce, originating from Yemeni cuisine, is incredibly delicious but also extremely spicy.)
