The survey results of Vietnamese tourists planning to travel abroad within the next 12 months show that 79.7% plan to take the trip this summer. Notably, only 22.2% of tourists surveyed have booked services (in full or in part) for the trip; most of the remaining tourists are only planning or considering choosing a suitable destination.

To develop sustainable intra-regional tourism, there needs to be close cooperation between countries in the region to improve service quality, diversify tourism products and attract international tourists.
According to a survey by The Outbox Company, Vietnamese tourists tend to prefer short getaways for overseas travel in the summer of 2024. Specifically, 71.5% of tourists choose trips lasting less than a week.
To develop sustainable intra-regional tourism, close cooperation between countries is needed.
The peak of the outbound summer tourist season is forecast to fall in June and July 2024. Many Vietnamese tourists only have short vacation time, so they prioritize short trips to make the most of their rest time.
In addition to the trend of short-term travel, Vietnamese tourists also have clear changes in their needs for experiences and preferred types of trips during different holidays of the year. Specifically, in the summer, tourists prefer outdoor experiences associated with nature (36.4% of tourists choose this as their favorite experience). Tourists are interested in cultural, culinary, and shopping experiences (32.2% of tourists choose cultural experiences as their favorite).
Vietnam’s outbound tourism market continues to show good growth potential during the 2024 summer peak season, creating opportunities for domestic travel businesses and international destinations. However, changes in travel behavior of the Vietnamese tourist market require destinations and businesses to have a more multi-dimensional approach based on understanding tourists.
