According to data from the Quang Binh Department of Tourism, the number of tourists visiting Quang Binh increased sharply in 2023 and the first four months of 2024, reaching nearly 1.4 million visitors. Most notably, domestic tourists accounted for over 95% of the total. While international tourists increased compared to 2022, the number remained low.
However, the Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Hoi route and vice versa currently only has an average of 2 flights per day, which is insufficient to meet passenger demand and affects the schedules of many pre-arranged tours.
With a sharp increase in tourist arrivals to Quang Binh in the first half of 2024, the province has proposed several solutions to stimulate tourism demand.
In the coming period, especially during the peak tourist season of Summer 2024, it is predicted that the number of tourists from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Binh will continue to increase. The Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee has recently issued Official Letter No. 840/UBND-KT requesting Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company to develop a plan to increase the frequency of flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Hoi and vice versa, and to open additional flights between Hanoi and Dong Hoi and vice versa to meet the growing travel needs of the people.
Particularly from June 2024, Quang Binh province will organize many activities to commemorate the 420th anniversary of the formation of Quang Binh province (1604 - 2024); the 75th anniversary of the Quang Binh Uprising (July 15, 1949 - July 15, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the re-establishment of the province (July 1, 1989 - July 1, 2024). To facilitate tourism development, Quang Binh will also adjust and reduce ticket prices at some tourist routes and destinations under the Phong Nha - Ke Bang Tourism Center, such as the Chay River - Dark Cave tourist site and Nuoc Mooc stream, in order to stimulate demand and attract tourists during the upcoming peak tourist season.
