This lake possesses unique characteristics, located about 1km from the entrance of Thung Cave, approximately 15m higher than the main underground river branch inside the cave, creating the sensation of "suspended" on the cave wall. The lake's area is estimated at about 100m², surrounded by vibrant stalactite columns.
Information from the survey team indicates that, due to the lake's unique location, they have temporarily named it "Suspended Lake." Due to insufficient equipment, the survey team has not yet been able to measure the lake's depth, nor has it determined the source of the water flowing into it.
The crystal-clear lake appears to be "suspended" on the cave wall, about 15 meters above the underground river system.
In the coming days, the survey team will return to Thung Cave with modern equipment to unravel the mysteries of Lo Lung Lake. Currently, the source of the water flowing into this lake has not been found, and a unique feature is that the lake is located about 15 meters higher than the underground river system. In addition, the exploration team also discovered a passageway halfway up the wall of Thung Cave, crossing the main underground river branch.
The Quang Binh Department of Tourism stated that once they receive an official report from the exploration team, they will send a team to survey the technical issues before allowing the exploitation of the mysterious lake in Thung Cave within Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
The Hung Thoong system, or Thoong Valley, is unique and distinctive, featuring numerous caves located deep within the strictly protected zone of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, surrounded by millions-of-years-old limestone mountains and primeval forest.
