27/07/2021

A decade ago, Amy Winehouse, one of the most talented singers and songwriters in music history, passed away at the age of 27. In memory of her life, her close friend and photographer Phil Griffin organized a special exhibition featuring previously unpublished photographs of the late musician, titled Amy In The Light.

They first met in 2006 when Griffin was involved in the creation of Amy's album Back To Black, and this exhibition will showcase Amy's photographs from that period.

Griffin shared, "The thought of recreating the time I worked with Amy to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her passing just makes me feel overwhelmed. Our relationship was very smooth, with nothing at all like that."rock 'n' rollIt wasn't dramatic or rebellious. It was very simple; I always felt protected and close to it, even when we were far apart."

"These new works—mostly reproduced in a reflective or two-sided way—each slightly different from the next, allow me to see Amy as if she were simultaneously present and absent here," he continued. "It reminds me that even though we lost Amy too soon, we still see her in different ways. Recreating her image in this way brings back many memories, helping me to look back and question all the different facets Amy embodied in all of us."
