27/07/2021

A decade ago, Amy Winehouse, one of the most talented singers and songwriters in music history, passed away at the age of 27. To commemorate her life, her close friend and photographer Phil Griffin organized a special exhibition with previously unpublished photos of the late musician, called Amy In The Light.

They first met in 2006 when Griffin was involved in the creation of Amy's album Back To Black, and the exhibition will feature photographs of Amy from that time.

Griffin shared, "When I think about recreating the time we spent working together with Amy to mark the 10th anniversary of her death, I just feel confused. Our relationship was very smooth, there was nothing like that.rock 'n' roll, it's not dramatic or rebellious. It's very simple, at that time I always felt protected, close, even when I was far away."

“These new works – most of them mirrored or double-sided – each slightly different from the next, allow me to see Amy as if she were simultaneously present and absent,” he continues. “It reminds me that even though we lost Amy too soon, we still see her in different ways. Recreating her in this way brings back memories, makes me look back and wonder about all the colors Amy once represented to all of us.”
