In the past, Juzkar only had a few hundred tourists visiting, but now it is one of the attractive tourist destinations in Spain with a special name - Smurf village.

Hundreds of years ago, the small houses of Juzkar, near Malaga in the Spanish autonomous region of Andalusia, were whitewashed. As a result, the village was unremarkable, with only about 220 residents in a total area of 33 square kilometers.

Previously visited by only a few hundred tourists, it is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Spain. This is thanks to the amazing renovation the city underwent in 2011.

In fact, two years ago, the villagers of Juzkar lived a normal life, but now they even live off tourism after Sony Pictures producers appeared here.

In 2011, the producers started looking for a village in Andalusia. Every white house was painted blue and that choice created this wonderful place.

At first, people were skeptical, but marketing experts convinced the villagers that the makeover was just to promote the premiere of the 3D movie “The Smurfs” and that it would set the village apart from other places.

In 2011, after getting the villagers' consent, the film producers promised to restore the houses to their original colors when work was finished.

Soon after, the white houses were transformed into simple but impressive blue houses. More than 15,000 liters of blue paint were used to cover the village, and Juzkar also received a special name - Smurf village as it is today.
