The announcement ceremony took place at 11:30 AM on October 31st (local time) in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom.
According to the plan, Bamboo Airways will launch regular direct flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and London and vice versa from the end of 2021, once authorized by the governments of both countries. The initial frequency is expected to be 6 round-trip flights per week on 2 routes, with daily flights starting in 2022.
Bamboo Airways announced a direct flight route between Vietnam and the UK and launched its general agent in the UK in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Flights from Vietnam to the UK will be operated using wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with passengers expected to arrive at Terminal 2 of Heathrow Airport (London) – one of the world's top 10 airports. This direct route will shorten travel time between Vietnam and the UK to just over 12-13 hours, saving up to 7 hours compared to connecting flights.
Bamboo Airways flight QH9051 landed at Heathrow International Airport in London, England on October 30th.
Opening direct flights will contribute to promoting many key strategic cooperation areas between the two countries, including trade, investment, tourism, fostering people-to-people exchanges, and enhancing mutual understanding.
Also at the event, Bamboo Airways launched APG UK – its general agent representing the airline in the UK market. APG UK is part of the global APG network – a world-renowned provider of aviation and travel solutions, partnering with over 200 airlines, with more than 111 offices worldwide and covering 170 markets. APG UK will support Bamboo Airways in customer outreach, service, and flight operations in the UK market.
