The formation and development of La Veranda is thanks to Madame Catherine – a noble French woman with ancestral roots in Phu Quoc. The architecture and every detail of the interior decoration at La Veranda are witnesses to more than a century of history and a miraculous journey. Madame Catherine's grandfather migrated to Phu Quoc in the 19th century with the aspiration of developing pepper cultivation. But love changed him when he met and fell in love with Madame Thanh – Madame Catherine's grandmother and also a native of Phu Quoc who sold fish sauce. Together, they embarked on a journey to Phnom Penh and started a fish sauce business.

Growing up in Phnom Penh, surrounded by the beautiful waters of Tonle Sap Lake, Madame Catherine spent her childhood years during the French colonial period. This served as an endless source of inspiration for her when building a beachfront villa in the French colonial style of the 1920s – La Veranda Resort.

La Veranda was built in 2004 as a retirement home for Madame Catherine. In her ancestral land, she personally designed and decorated a French-style villa to commemorate her ancestors' history. All the furnishings here embody over a hundred years of history, reflecting her family's journey from Phu Quoc to Phnom Penh, and now their return to their ancestral homeland.
Since opening its doors to guests from all over the world in 2006, La Veranda Resort has offered guests the perfect space for privacy and tranquility. Over the years, the resort has received numerous prestigious awards for its quality of service. Most recently, La Veranda received Vietnam's award.Luxury Beachfront Boutique Hotel 2016Awarded by Luxury Travel Guide.
