Mihaela is a Romanian who has traveled to 50 countries and territories, including Afghanistan, Iraq and North Korea, capturing the radiant images of women, both old and young, rich and poor, and spending time talking to them. The trip lasted four years. She named this project Atlas of Beauty. In an interview with CNN, Mihaela said: “I try to focus on the stories of women. How they face challenges in life and overcome them.” For Mihaela, all women are beautiful and strong, even though they face many social prejudices and are often discriminated against. Here are some of the 500 photos Mihaela posted in her photo book:
Cape Town, South Africa. While visiting the city's slums, the photographer was struck by the gentleness of this food vendor. She has been selling meat here every day for 30 years.

Pyongyang, North Korea. Bicycles are everywhere here.
Central Mongolia: Mihaela took this photo on an August day in the isolated part of Mongolia. It was still cold. In the harsh weather, she saw this woman gracefully working on her farm. As she worked, she truly shone.

Jodhpur, India. In India, trains are an important means of transport for the country, with over 20 million people using them every day. Social stratification is reflected in the eight different levels of service on the train.
Mexico City, Mexico: Mihaela is impressed by the efforts and dedication of women firefighters, despite the many risks and dangers their work entails.
