Surrounded by the Empty Quarter desert, guests staying at the Qasr Al Sarab resort (Abu Dhabi) can experience driving on the sand dunes, trekking with camels, or cycling to watch the sunrise.

Qasr Al Sarab is a resort located on the edge of the Empty Quarter, the world's largest isolated sand desert in southern Arabia. Visitors here will have the opportunity to explore one of the wildest places on the planet.

Construction of Qasr Al Sarab began in 2007. The structure's architecture was designed to reduce wind speed and prevent sandstorms.

Over 2 million square meters of sand were moved to build the resort. Many walls even used sandbags to reduce the amount of concrete used in construction.

Opened in 2009, the resort became a popular tourist destination in the region, appearing in newspapers, magazines, and even television. Most notably, in 2016, Qasr Al Sarab was featured in the blockbuster "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (Star Wars Episode 7).

Qasr Al Sarab is surrounded by a fort built in the Arabian architectural style. It is located about a two-hour drive from the center of Abu Dhabi and not far from the border with Saudi Arabia.

The resort has 154 rooms and 52 villas. At the heart of this luxurious complex is a palm-fringed swimming pool, resembling a lush green oasis.

Beyond its fortified walls lie miles of expansive sandy plains in the Empty Quarter. Therefore, Qasr Al Sarab offers visitors a variety of recreational activities and opportunities to explore nature.

Visitors can try experiences such as driving cars on sand dunes, trekking with camel herds, or enjoying afternoon tea as the sun sets over the desert.

Another popular activity for tourists visiting Qasr Al Sarab is cycling (on large wheels) to explore the desert at dawn.

The villas in the resort all have private swimming pools, and all 50 villas are built facing west so guests can watch the sunset.
