Following the opening ceremony, the Northern Helicopter Company provided two sightseeing flights to the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, a World Natural Heritage site.
Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park is located within the administrative boundaries of two districts: Bo Trach and Minh Hoa, approximately 50 km from Dong Hoi City. The park is situated in a vast limestone mountain area covering about 200,000 hectares. It contains approximately 300 caves of varying sizes, numerous unique underground rivers, and a diverse ecosystem with many rare and endangered plant and animal species. Therefore, Phong Nha - Ke Bang is known as the "kingdom of caves".
In 2009, an expedition from the British Royal Cave Association discovered and announced Son Doong Cave, measuring over 5 km in length, 200 m in height, and 150 m in width, as the world's largest cave. Son Doong Cave is one of the highlights of these tourist flights.
A reporter from Thanh Niên Online was on board the first helicopter flight to explore the "kingdom of caves" from the air.
