Tourists from all over the world flock to South Africa to spend the night in this humble cabin. The interesting thing about this house, called Lion House, is that it is located in the GG reserve, which is home to over 70 lions.

Owner and guide Suzanne Scott said guests had to be escorted and driven to the property, as it was located in the middle of a lion enclosure.

There is a fence around the house to ensure the safety of visitors. The lions often come close to this fence, giving visitors the opportunity to see them from a close distance.

The most interesting area of the house is the veranda, where visitors can relax, drink coffee, watch the sun rise or set, and observe the lions in their daily activities. They often play in the water. If you are lucky, you can see them eating. According to Scott, lions are intelligent, full of personality.
When you’re not out experiencing nature, you can enjoy the warmth of the house. Each room has a large bed and large windows. The house has 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a fireplace and Wi-Fi. The price per night is around 104 USD.

But visitors to Lion House are not just there to stay. The natural scenery outside, including the Drakensberg Mountains, is the main attraction. Although the house is only located in a lion sanctuary, the GG area is actually thousands of hectares large.
In addition to lions, you can also sign up for tours to see zebras, black antelopes, imapla, wild cats, ostriches... The majestic scenery around Lion House will overwhelm visitors.

The lions here are listed as rescue and conservation. They are victims of habitat destruction, poaching and disease. According to Scott, few people know that lions are an endangered species. Their numbers have dropped from 500,000 to 20,000 in 50 years.

The proceeds from renting this house are used for conservation. Because of its uniqueness and significance, Lion House has become a highly appreciated overnight accommodation for tourists. This is an ideal destination for those who want to connect with nature and experience the thrill of being next to the “king of animals”.
